Lendine Nichols-Hill, daughter of the late Mary and Alfred Nichols Sr., was born on August 14, 1937, in Darlove, Mississippi. She moved to Los Angeles, California (Compton) with her mother and father in 1946. Lendine departed this life at her residence, 79 West Grand Heights, on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Lendine accepted Christ at St. John’s Methodist Church in Los Angeles, California, at the early age of nine years old. She later joined Ward Chapel AME Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R.L. McRae.
Lendine attended Centennial High School in Compton, California, and later graduated from John Gaston Hospital School of Nursing upon moving to Memphis, Tennessee.
Lendine was joined in holy matrimony to her late husband, Charles “Mike” Hill, on October 17, 1959. To this union, one son and two daughters were born.
At the age of 88, Lendine leaves to cherish her loving memory: one son, Michael C. Hill (Tanya) of Richmond, Virginia, and two daughters, Marcel C. Hill and Melody C. Hill-Burson (Arlen), both of Memphis, Tennessee. She also leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Toni Dantzler (Syndey) of Milford, Pennsylvania, and Terri (Harvey) Johnson of Middletown, Delaware; three grandchildren, Brandon C. Thomas, Jared W. (McKayla) Bradford, and Marlena C. Bradford; one unborn great-granddaughter, Maliyah Janae Bradford; two sisters, Brenda Nichols (Spencer) Figures of Yazoo City, Mississippi, and Violet Simon of Redford, Michigan; one brother, Jimmy Nichols of Los Angeles, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a vast number of friends.
Lendine was preceded in death by four brothers.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 14, 2025 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at RS Lewis & Sons 2944 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38111. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 15, 2025 11:00am at Ward Chapel AME Church 1125 S Pkwy E, Memphis, TN 38106
Internment will be Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00am in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN 38125
