Obituary For Lucy Johns

The world lost a radiant and beloved gem, Lucy Ann Johns, affectionately known as “Pebbles” to some and “Sistah Lucy” to others, as she peacefully transitioned on November 21, 2024, in the comfort of her home. Lucy was born on June 8, 1966, in KilMicheal, Mississippi, to Letha Marie Green and Willie Lee Golden Sr., who both preceded her in death, but will yet reunite with her in eternal life. Although Mississippi was her original place of birth, Lucy relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, as a young child, where she has remained a native, building strong core values and staying grounded in her roots of the Delta until the day of her departure.

Lucy was a member of World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church under leadership of Apostle Alton R. Williams, Senior Pastor. Lucy died with a passion for Christ as she had a zeal for spreading The Gospel of Jesus, and she had a strong desire for everyone who she came in contact with to experience GOD’S UNMATCHED POWER & HIS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE beyond the surface without putting limitations or boundaries upon who GOD IS, what He can deliver you from, or whom He could use as a vessel, especially those who held a significant place in her heart. She found solace in her faith and raised her children firmly in the ammunition of the Lord. Although being a witness for THE KINGDOM OF GOD was her first love, she diligently fulfilled her calling as a Teacher within the fivefold ministry, serving as a children’s church minister for many years, as well as a bold entrepreneur who optimistically started her own daycare & tutoring business, and operating within the ranks of being a highly requested educator at Shelby County School District where she also taught for several years as education was a priority to her & she saw it not only as an opportunity but offered it as a lifeline to many. Hence the reason she herself was a prominent recipient of countless degrees where she graduated with honors, being top of her class, leading by example for those she taught and had the pleasure of impacting their lives.

Lucy leaves behind her husband, Harry Lee Johns; her three beautiful daughters who meant the world to her, Crystal A. Mallory, Courtney A. Crawford, and Cameisha A. Mallory; three amazing grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Antraniece C. Garrett, Antravious D. Garrett, and Au’Corriyai T. McKinney; and currently her one & only great-granddaughter, Au’Layiah M. Garrett, whom she genuinely adored as she made sure to spend a lot of time with before her last days despite the odds of her health accepting her title of GiGi seriously. Lucy was unbelievably the baby herself amongst her siblings, which was indeed baffling for some to reason with because of her tenacity, strength, & resilience. She is survived by her two caring sisters, Shellie Ann Golden and Janice Marie (Luther) McCaskill, and her two God-fearing brothers, Willie Earl (Linda) Golden and Ricky Lewis (Wanda) Golden, as she has two sisters, Annie Helen Daniels and Grace Lee Fentress, who preceded her in death, alongside her three brothers, Willie Brooks Golden, George Wesley Golden, and James Earnest Golden. Lucy also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close-knit friends who were dear to her heart! As family & friendship were a major staple in her life.

Although Lucy will be tremendously missed as she was cherished & loved by many, her warm laughter, courageous strength, & unwavering faith will always remain embedded in the hearts of those who righteously loved her, and though she may be physically gone, she will never ever be forgotten! Lucy Ann Johns ran a good race, and we genuinely believe that GOD has welcomed her, saying, WELL DONE THOU GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!

The family has scheduled a public viewing for Friday December 06, 2024 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at R. S. Lewis Funeral Home 2944 Walnut Grove Rd. Service of celebration will be Saturday December 07, 11:00am at World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church 6655 Winchester Rd. Interment will follow in New Park Cemetery.
