Margaret Wallace Seawood was born January 9, 1935, to the late Sidney Wallace and Sarah Bennett Wallace Toler Davis.
She grew up in Molentown and later lived in Driving Park Court. She attended Manassas for all 12 years of her education.
She worked in a restaurant under Ms. Carol, and later as a janitor at Grant Elementary School. With aspirations for more, she attended LeMoyne-Owen College and received a degree in education. Her first teaching assignment was at Grant Elementary, the very same school she used to clean. This was a very proud moment for her. She loved educating others, and taught at Hawkins Mill Elementary for the rest of her teaching career. She retired after 30 years of service to care for her ailing husband.
She married Samuel L. Seawood on February 6, 1954; and to this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Alicia V. Seawood. They were married for 45 years until his death in 1999.
She grew up in the church and knew the Lord as her personal Savior. She attended Molentown COGIC, Chelsea Avenue Church of Christ, and later joined Temple of Deliverance where she was a faithful member until her health declined. She sang in the choir, and was a dedicated volunteer for the food pantry and clothes closet. She received Volunteer of the Year, and participated in the senior activities. She also fellowshipped with the seniors at the Hollywood Community Center where they exercised, played bingo, and other seasonal activities.
She leaves to mourn her passing a devoted daughter, Alicia V. Seawood; and her sister, Geraldine Reamey, both of Memphis, Tennessee; one sister-in-law, Magnolia Seawood Powell of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
