Mary Frances (Jones) Tuggle, 77, was called home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. She was born July 6, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Alvin and Lirlee Jones, both of whom preceded her in death. Mary is survived by her husband, Melvyn M. Tuggle, whom she married in July 1969, and her daughter, Chandra Tuggle. Among other family members who mourn Mary’s passing are her sister, Marie Gaffney (Nick); her brother, Mark Jones; sister-in-law, Bwana T. Hollowell; her niece, Sonya Johnson (Darrell); four nephews, Paul, Bradley, Joshua, and Quinlen, as well as extended family. A 1966 graduate of Father Bertrand High School and a former employee of Memphis City Schools, Mary will also be cherished in the memory of countless lifelong friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16, during the visitation at Catholic Church of the Resurrection, 5475 Newberry Avenue, Memphis, TN 38115, from 10:00am to 12:00noon, and services will follow at 12:00noon, with Father Robert Favazza officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis, TN 38106, immediately following the service. R.S. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home is providing the funeral arrangements.

Melvyn, Rick and I are heartbroken over the loss of Mary Frances. She was so much fun to be with and had a wonderful sense of humor! We will treasure the great times we shared with the Traveling Mafia. We will miss her and we know she'll be watching over you from heaven. RIP❤️❤️🙏🏽
