Obituary For Mattie Mae Tatum
Ms. Mattie Mae Tatum, 95, of Memphis, TN passed away on June 17, 2026 at her home in Memphis, Tennessee. Mattie was born on March 9, 1931 to Luster Spinks and Rose Ellar Franklin-Spinks in Moscow, Tennessee. She is survived by five children, Irma P Butler (Clyde), Nancy Seymore (Melvin),Rosie Hill, Cheryl Patton, and Timothy Tatum (Rose); twenty-three grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren and thirty-four great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luster Spinks and Rose Ellar Franklin-Spinks. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at R.S. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home located at 3651 Austin Peay Highway, in Memphis, TN. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 3rd, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St Stephen Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Historic Elmwood Cemetery.

My condolences to the Tatum family. I am praying for strength during this time. I have fond memories of Ms. Maggie, my mom(Louise) and my Aunt Tootann and some of the other ladies getting ready to go fishing. My mom said that Ms. Mattie had them laughing all day long.
My sincere condolences to the family. My memories of Madea are forever. She was my ride or die chick and I'm going to miss her so much .
