Ophelia Smith, 93 of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at her residence in Memphis, Tennessee.
Born Monday, January 13, 1930 in Olive Branch, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Ules Jones and the late Dorothy Shorter.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 9:00am-10:55am with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00am both will be held at Union Baptist Chuch 102 E Brooks Rd, Memphis, TN 38109
Interment will be in New Park Cemetery, 4536 Horn Lake Rd, Memphis, TN 38109

I'm really gonna miss you Mother Smith!! I met you at age 6 and you took me in as another grandchild at 12 after losing my great grandmother. Blood couldn't have made us any closer. I'm just finding out about this news and so sorry I wasn't there to give my last kiss and pay my respects. I love you so much, and I know that you're in a better place.

Her legacy includes, wonderful mother and wife, devoted daughter, beloved sister and aunt, celebrated soloist, lead singer of multiple choirs, and the First Lady of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. We celebrate you! We sing your song! We tell your story!
