Randy “Big Hud'' Hudson was born in Memphis, TN, on June 11, 1960 to the late Lester Sr. and Dorothy Hudson. He professed his faith in Jesus Christ at a very young age and became a baptized member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. As a young adult, he later converted to Catholicism and regularly attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, also in Memphis. Randy had true compassion for Memphis’ homeless population and often served at St. Patrick’s, feeding the homeless.
Randy was a proud graduate of Hamilton High School, home of the Wildcats, in Memphis, TN. After pursuing studies at William R. Moore College of Technology, he spent the next 30 plus years of his life working in building maintenance. He worked at SRVS (Shelby Residential Vocational Services) for over 20 years, and for more than 10 years at PFSweb, Inc., where he was employed at the time of his passing.
In 1999 he married the love of his life, Tora. Randy was very proud of all three of his children becoming educators.
Randy’s love for his entire family was evidenced by his devotion, loyalty, dependability and occasional doses of tough-love and keeping-it-real conversations. But EVERYBODY knew that his connection to his grandson, Ashton, was most special and unduplicated. They did everything together, including going to the gym, to Mass, out to eat, to see movies, shopping, to the barber shop, and even chillin’ at the house on the weekend whenever possible. Rarely did he welcome a “third-wheel” when he was hanging with his “Nuuk”.
Randy “Big Hud”, “Big Randy” was an extraordinary man. He was a man of his word. He was also a man who baked a delicious chocolate cake. He was a sports fanatic. He exercised at the YMCA at least five days-a-week with his Y-family. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang in the choir at his church.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, family member and friend who was truly loved, will surely be missed, and always remembered in our hearts.
He leaves to cherish his memory his lovely wife, Tora; two sons, Randy Jr. (Princess), and Tevyn; his daughter, Bryanna; his bonus son, William “Will”; one grandson (his pride and joy), Ashton; two granddaughters, Kishunna and Kamyah; and four siblings, Lester Jr. (Kaia), Beverly, Darrell, and Camille. He will be lovingly remembered by three sisters-in-law, Donna, Erika, and Portia, and five brothers-in-law, Herman Jr. (Amy), Reginald Sr. (Audra), Darrell Michael (Tara), David, and Chauncey; his lifelong friend and bonus brother, Vernon “Sleepy” and a host of other relatives and friends
