God decided He wanted another angel, so He gave Miss Rita her wings on July 29, 2024. Miss Rita was a dedicated member of the Greater St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She loved the Lord and was very active in her church community. She was a lifetime member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee. She also loved Pastor J. F. Harris (Emeritus) & First Lady (Odelia).
Rita Beatrice Hall was born July 11, 1937, in Marshall County, Byhalia, Mississippi, to a sharecropper and housewife; Nelson Hall and Jessie Mae Mallory Hall were her devoted parents. She had three brothers, Curtis Hall, Joe Dudley Hall, and Willie Nelson Hall, and one sister, Lovest Butler, who all preceded her in death.
She leaves four children to cherish her memories, Annette Walton (Greg), Rita James (Jerome), Sandra Bland, and Anthony Bland; four beautiful grandchildren, Amber Jade James, Antonio Gates (Cartesia), Jessica Tiara Washington, and the late Antoinette Monique Bland; and two lovely great-grandchildren, Aruana “Aru” and Alivia Kate “AK”. She loved and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
The family wishes to thank her loving caretakers, LaQuetta Evans, Gloria Webber and other in-home caregivers. Some from the old neighborhood considered her their “adopted” mom: Tracy Barnes, Felicia Fisher, Spring C. Morgan and Rachel McCoy-Crawford. She also touched the lives of these two “adopted" grandchildren, Leslie Perry and Tiara Bland. She leaves a host of other family members and friends. She will be missed tremendously.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 9, 2024 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at RS Lewis & Sons, 3651 Austin Peay Highway, Memphis, Tennessee 38128. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 11:00am at Greater St Thomas Baptist Church located at 4655 Apple Cove Memphis, Tennessee 38109.
