A Legacy of Love, Faith, and Wisdom
On September 4, 2025, Rosie Lee Torrence Fitchpatric answered God’s call and entered eternal rest, leaving behind a radiant legacy of faith, compassion, and enduring strength. Rosie was born in Moscow, Tennessee, the cherished daughter of the late Rev. Hillary and Mrs. Annie Torrence. Her journey through life was marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.
Rosie was united in marriage to the late Lee Andrew Fitchpatric Sr. Their union was blessed with seven children: Rose Outlaw (Danny, deceased) of Conyers, Ga, Lee Earnest (deceased; Ethel Fitchpatric, deceased), Lazarus, Asell (Donna), Lee Andrew Jr. (Jackie), Heleane Rowland (David), and Steve, all of Memphis, TN. In her role as mother, Rosie’s nurturing spirit and unwavering dedication became the cornerstone of her family’s strength.
From an early age, Rosie embraced her faith, joining Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Rossville, Tennessee. Upon marriage and her move to Shelby County, she became a devoted member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Germantown. In 2014, as her journey led her to Conyers, Georgia to reside with Danny and Rose Outlaw, she found a loving, caring church home, spiritual family, and fellowship at Greenforest Community Baptist Church. Her heart always belonged to Tennessee and her final wish was to return home.
Rosie’s influence extended far beyond the walls of her home and church. Though she did not pursue formal higher education, she was bestowed with affectionate titles by all who knew her such as “psychologist, teacher, doctor, counselor, spiritual advisor, and driving instructor when she could not drive.” Her keen wisdom and loving advice provided guidance and comfort, always “right on target.” Rosie’s gentle humor, generosity, and resilience left an indelible imprint on countless lives.
Her legacy flourishes in the hearts of her seven children, twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters: Jessie Stone of Memphis, TN; Lola Haggins of Columbus, OH; Everlena Neal of Cleveland, OH; Clara Watson of Kansas City, MO, brothers Sidney, John, and Allison Torrence who preceded her in death, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and devoted friends.
Rosie Lee Torrence Fitchpatric’s life was a tapestry woven with devotion, laughter, wisdom, and love. She leaves behind a family united by her example and a community enriched by her presence. Her memory will be treasured forever, and her spirit will continue to shine in all who carry her love forward.
