Allan Bradford Manning was a beacon of warmth, honesty, and love. His smile, laughter, and kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He departed peacefully on October 15, 2025,and his life reminds us of the impact one person can have on the world around them.
Born in Abbeville, South Carolina, Allan was the loving husband of Cammananda “Cam” Jones-Manning and the cherished son of Bessie D. Jones-Manning and the late Lt. Col. (Ret) Robert Manning Jr. Family and faith were always first in his life. Affectionately called “Goodie” by his maternal grandmother, he was a shy child who embraced sports and music. Growing up overseas as a U.S. Army brat in Europe and Asia fueled his lifelong love for travel, culture, and people.
He lived life to the fullest, developing a passion for exploring and celebrating his family’s rich South Carolina history. Allan valued relationships and believed in the importance of staying connected. He made it a point to nurture bonds with family and friends, no matter what. Whether through a listening ear, words of support, or a simple act of kindness, he always cared for the people in his life and sought to uplift others.
Service to others was a core part of Allan’s life. As a supply specialist in the U.S. Air Force and a tank crew gunner and artilleryman in the U.S. Army, he wore the cloth of our nation with pride, honoring the legacy of his father and countless relatives. He cherished the bonds formed during his military service and was a vocal supporter of service members and their families.
Allan could brighten any room, and his memory will be celebrated through countless stories, laughter, and tears. He cherished his Heidelberg High School alumni community (especially the class of 1980!) and dedicated his time and heart to supporting all oversees military brats. This was important to him because he believed in bringing joy and comfort to others. Allan has given us lasting memories that will continue to inspire us for years to come.
He leaves behind his wife, Cammananda; daughters, Allyson C. and Ashley P.; son, Marquel D.; grandchildren, Amear and Aniyah; a great-grandson, Kai’zire; his mother, Bessie J.; brother, Robert III “Trey”(Deborah); and a host of beloved uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors
A celebration of Allan’s life will be held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on October 25, 2025, at Samuels Funeral Home, 114 N. Church Street, Manning, SC, and visitation is one hour prior. Burial will occur at 12 p.m. on October 27, 2025 at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allan’s name to a charity of your choice.

Dearest Allen, our Heidelberg Lion. Your messages of love, hope, compassion and kindness will be missed. I remember you from HHS. Though you were older, you watched out for those around you, no matter the age. You never missed my birthday, my wedding anniversary and reached out when my husband died. Who will carry your torch? Allan, I was scrolling... how I be scrolling and saw your memorial. I stopped scrolling, I started thinking. Thinking about my own mortality. Thinking about our conversations. How much you loved being a husband and Dad. Conversations about Cam, about being a man in your family. This was 14-15 yrs ago? I was just beginning to think as a man. You were a great influence, I wish we had stayed in closer contact. I am so sorry 😞 to hear of your passing. The World is a bit darker with your absence. I pray you a peaceful journey. Be blessed Allan, till we meet again Playboy. ~Mike

You were unmatched, Allan, simply unmatched. God Bless You, Sir. I'm truly heartbroken for your blood Fam and your Brat Fam. Rest peacefully as God knows you deserve it.
Allan,
You are one in a million sir. No matter what was thrown at you, you always were you, a class act. You never changed who you were to the people around you. You would give the world your last.
You were always the example to what being a Brat means. No one was ever a stranger to you and that's one of the things that I'll remember the most.
Thank you for the laughs, the aggravating way you wouldn't listen to reason 😂, the sweetness, the hugs, and without a doubt the love you gave to us over the years. Keep smiling that beautiful smile and keep watch over us all. You get to dance with my #BooCrew4Life DJ EZG forever.
😘😘😘
Allan, I can't believe we've lost your beautiful light. You were always trying to bring us all back together, trying to recreate the diversity we grew up with. Love and miss you, brother. Carmela
Allan, The torchbearer of all things BRAT! First, my sincere condolences to your family. They are lovely and I'm glad I met them in Atlanta so many years ago. You brought so many together. While we are all loyal to our own schools, you celebrated that and brought us all together under the BRAT umbrella. I can't count the number of times you reached out to me to invite me to events or to meet up when I was in Columbia. You sir, were a stranger to none and in fact, celebrated each and every one of us. Your legacy for the BRAT nation is impressive. You sincerely wanted this brother/sisterhood to remain intact and you grew friendships among all of us that crossed our respective schools. You had a talent. You were humble, proud and loyal. You are missed Allan. You touched many lives including mine. I am honored to have met you and consider you a friend. You cared for so many of us and made us feel special and included. Thank you my friend. Rest peacefully. Auf wiedersehen. Mel HHS c/o '90
