Avlia “Poppa Bear” Rose, died Thursday, January 30, 2025 at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee, Florence, SC. He was born June 14, 1956 in Clarendon County, South Carolina. A son of the late Hazel and Ruth McCants Rose.
The family is receiving friends at the home of his sister Vickie M. McFadden, 1282 Leon McFadden Rd., Gable, SC.
Public viewing will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Hayes F. Samuels Jr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St. Manning, SC.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Melina Presbyterian Church, 3539 Black River Rd. Gable, SC. Burial will follow in the Florence National Cemetery, 803 E. National Cemetery Rd. Florence, SC.

My Condolences to the family, I remember when I first met Avila at the phone company in Manning SC when I was paying the bill for my mother and be became close friends. He would come and cut the yard for my mother when she got sick. He was truly a good guy at heart. Avila rest on cause you earn your wings.
