Eddie Lucious Cain, the son of the late Lucious and Lelia Butler Cain, was born February 15, 1915 in Davis Station, South Carolina. Our beloved Father Eddie accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. Reared in a Christian home, he joined and remained a member of The Greater Laurel Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church in Davis Station, South Carolina for over 100 years. Also, he attended the public schools in Davis Station, South Carolina. As a young man, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Mazell Gibson Cain. They remained married for over 75 years until her passing on November 1, 2017. To this union, nine children were born. As a husband and father, our beloved Eddie remained dedicated and faithful.
During his working years, Father Eddie worked on the family farm from sun up to sun down, five days a week. After years of farming, he retired. Soon after, he began working at Georgia Pacific Company in Sumter, South Carolina until retiring a second time.
Throughout his life, our beloved Eddie found pleasure in baseball, as a skilled player and enthusiastic spectator. Besides having natural athleticism, Eddie had a beautiful tenor voice and at one time, sang with a family quartet. Eddie was even a member of the YMCA. Additionally, he loved talking on the telephone, eating his nightly cup of ice cream, listening to music, helping people, giving advice and socializing with the younger generation. His most enjoyable pastimes were watching his favorite television shows: Walker, Texas Ranger, Matlock, Bonanza and Gunsmoke.
Our beloved Eddie entered into eternal rest on April 27, 2020.
When God sent His angels of love and mercy with a message to the 105 year old father, Eddie Lucious Cain, His Lord said unto him , “Well done good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” (Matthew 25:23).
He leaves to cherish his life and memories six daughters: Susan (Juanito) Roach of Lithia Springs, Georgia; Ruby (Johnnie) James of Baltimore, Maryland; Reverend Helen (Warren) Bennett of Summerton, South Carolina; Callie (Willie) Sampson and Apostle Gwendolyn (Willie F.)
