Summerton, SC
Samuel “Sam” Adams was born August 17, 1938 in the Pineland Community of Rimini, South Carolina to the late Franklin Adams, Sr and Mary Watson Adams. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Franklin Jr, Adan "Adney", Robert, Earline, Mary and Julia.
“Sam” grew up in Clarendon County and left at an early age on a mission to become the man that he wanted to be. He lived in Florida for a time before moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he started his family. He later moved with his family to White Plains, New York and while living there, became a member of the Bright Hope Lodge in Greenburgh, New York. He returned to his birthplace and made a home for himself in Manning, South Carolina where he met his future wife and continued to expand on his many business ventures. “Sam” received Christ in his life and attended Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W. T. Johnson of Summerton, SC. While serving as a musician at church, he played lead guitar. During services, he played with all his heart and made the guitar sing. “Sam” continued to attend church and play lead guitar until his health declined. And although he stopped playing the guitar, he still kept a melody in his heart and in his spirit. He was such a talented musician who played with the famous Willie “Bill” Pickney. Sam touched many lives along the way; he loved life and was a socialite in his own right. Everywhere “Sam” went, he kept it live. “Sam” was a legend in his own right.
His hobbies included cars and racing, music, spending time with his family, fishing and traveling. You might have known him better as "Geeter” with the Heater - had no fear", "Son of Sam", "Guitar Man" or "Mr. Sam". “Sam” was a fun loving person, well known for his love of music and well respected in the community. In addition to being well known for his love of music, He may have been better known for his fashion. He would be sharp as a knife - coordinated from head to toe. The hat, the suit, the tie, the pocket square, the socks and the garters. “Sam” loved to dress and he did it well.
“Sam” leaves to cherish his loving wife, Nancy V. Pearson Adams of 38 years. When they first met, August 9, 1983, “Sam” decided that he would make her his wife on September 27, 1983. Yes, it was just like that!! Sam and Nancy had a lot of good times together, laughs and love that will last a life time. You definitely was a loving husband and father, we called our family the Brady Bunch! Thank You “Sam”, I will always cherish every moments we shared. I Will Always Love You, Your Wife Nancy.
