Sumter, SC
First Base Tiny Ann Wilson Baxter was the daughter of the late Willie Wilson and Joletha Wilson, was born May 27, 1964 in Williamsburg County. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, Johnny & Pattie Canty, William & Tiny Wilson and a brother James C. Wilson.
Second Base She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg and Clarendon Counties. She was a 1980 graduate of Manning High School. After which she was employed at Manning Manufacturing of Manning, Campbell Soup of Sumter, Diebold, Walmart and Eaton Corporation all of Sumter.
Third Base Tiny joined Union Cypress AME Church in her early life and later received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior under the anointed leadership of Pastor Melissa Green. She later joined The Master’s Place under the divine influence of Deacon John and Pastor Rosa Fulton where she served on the Pastor’s Aide Committee and was the coordinator of a legion of other committees.
“Legend”, “Beast”, “Lover of the Game” these are all words that Tiny’s softball teammates used to describe her. She was known to be a dynamic short stop player and home run guru. She started her softball career with the Manning A’s in 1983 and continued in the Sumter Gamecock League. She played with The Expos, The Gable Bulldogs and The Sandhill Pirates. It wasn’t uncommon to hear coaches yell out “put her on” to prevent Tiny from hitting another homerun.
Her greatest victory was the birth of her daughter, Tyandra Latrice Olden-Small. She and Tyandra would spend time together eating rolls of chocolate chip cookies, watching football and NCIS. They also enjoyed taking rides and singing along with old school R&B. Five years ago, Tyandra and her husband, Lorenzo, presented Tiny with her two championship rings, Paisley and Brycen. She took pride in being the greatest grandmother. You could find her in the park blowing bubbles or holding them both at once.
The Final Homerun On August 23, 2021, Tiny Ann Wilson Baxter slid into home plate at Prisma Health Tuomey in Sumter, South Carolina. Tiny’s precious memories will be cherished by her dream team: her daughter, Tyandra (Lorenzo) Small of Shreveport, LA; her bonus daughter, Tyciana Baxter of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Paisley and Brycen both of Shreveport, LA and Tomory OʹNeal, Jr. of Columbia, SC; three sisters, Patricia (Elder Wilbert) Holliday, Pastor Rosa (Deacon John) Fulton both of Manning, SC and Clarissa Rogers of Kingstree, SC; one brother, Johnny (Barbara) Wilson of Manning, SC; three aunts, Clara C. David and Lillian Canty both of Manning, SC and Ophelia McKnight of Salters, SC; eight nieces, thirteen nephews, six grand nieces, eight grand nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Delbert Singleton, Elder Wilbert Holiday, Pastor Eric Rush, Pastor Anna Lawson and Pastor Melissa Green assisted.
