Obituary For Venro Fleming, Jr.

Sumter, SC

Deacon Venro Fleming Jr., the son of the late Venro Fleming Sr. and Harriet Collins Fleming, was born September 8, 1953 and was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Prisma Healthcare Tuomey, Sumter, South Carolina. He was proceeded in death by one brother, Edward “Squeakie” Collins.

At an early age, Venro Fleming Jr. moved with his family from New Zion, South Carolina to Bridgeport Connecticut where he lived until moving back to South Carolina.

Deacon Venro worked at numerous trades in his life. However, in his latter years God blessed him to have his own business as a Contractor, doing residential and commercial renovations. Because of this he was able to give employment opportunities to family and friends. He leaves to cherish in fond memory his loving “Baby” his ‘friend’ and ‘partner”, Carolyn Allen of Sumter; his children Venro (Anissa) Cornelius Mayo, Jr., Lamont (Monica) Fleming, Samantha Fleming, Dashaun Fleming, Cornel (Ises) Fleming, Chanel “Nay Nay” Fleming and Tambria Fleming; twenty-two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Fleming; six brothers, Eddie Fleming, James Lee Fleming and Albert Fleming all of Alcolu, SC. Elbert Fleming of Richmond Virginia, Joseph Fleming of New Milford CT. Carl “Mike’ Fleming of Bridgeport CT; several aunts; and a host of nieces, nephew, and cousins.

TESTIMONIAL

Deacon Venro Fleming Jr. had the heart of a servant. He loved people and rarely met a stranger. He loved making people smile. Friends would call on Deacon Fleming to help. He would give his last just to help someone. Whatever ministry Deacon Venro Fleming Jr. was affiliated with, he would find something for his hands to do. His greatest love was being a Door Keeper” in the House of the Lord and he did it with Excellence.

Funeral services for Mr. Fleming were held 11:00AM Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Howard Chapel AME Church Cemetery, 6338 Old Manning Road, New Zion, SC. Apostle Dr. Philip O. Coleman, officiating; Dr. Michael Richburg, Pastor Kenneth Shuler and Mr. Carl "Mike" Fleming, assisted.

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, the family is not receiving friends.

Memories: Deacon Venro Fleming Jr. loved being an Usher and doing security for the church. He loved making people smile. He loved helping family, friends and even stranger. He was genuine and so very sincere. You could feel his love.
He and an employer, while working in a apartment discovered the mother and children did not have food and no mean of getting foods. Deacon Fleming went to Walmart and bought more than enough for the family. And this in one of many memories. People up and down the coast are saying what a great man he was and he will be missed.
Deacon Fleming loved looking at the sky especially the clouds. He prayed and fasted often. He would listen to his bible on tape and was proud when he completed a chapter.
Deacon Venro Fleming always tried to take the high road no matter the circumstance. Deacon Venro Fleming Jr. may have made mistakes, as we all have, in his younger days. But he knew that his past was under the blood and he used his early mistakes as a testimony to what God can do. Praise Jesus. He now leaves behind a great legacy as a changed man. Not only is he loved by his family and friends but those who he only met for a moment were impacted by such a loving great man.
He was a King, a Priest a Partner, a Protector a Brother and a True Friend. He will forever remain in my heart.
