Mother Wyline Monroe Gamble, widower of Eugene Gamble, and the daughter of the late George Monroe and Ruth Cooper Monroe, was born June 9, 1929, in Sumter County, South Carolina died May 28, 2020 at her residence 1445 Narrow Paved Road, Lynchburg, SC.

She received her formal education at Johnson High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina, with a major in Home Economics Education and minor in Related Sciences. Pursing her profession as a teacher for thirty-eight years, she touched many lives with her goodness and Godliness in the public schools of Chesterfield, Lee, and Sumter counties.

Being reared in a Christian environment, at an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Goodwill Presbyterian Church (USA) where she served as a Sunday school teacher. After her marriage, she joined Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Turbeville, South Carolina. She served faithfully in the following capacities: Sunday school teacher, secretary, Young People Christian League Advisor, Gospel Choir, Women’s Ministry, Banking Committee, and church announcer. She was also recognized as “The Mother of the Church.”

She was a member of the Household of Ruth #3728, the Order of Eastern Star Skyway Chapter #351 (Charter Member) and the One More Effort Federated Club.

Mother Gamble was a lady of strength, dignity, and strong conviction who stood firmly for justice, peace, love and human understanding in the church, home, school, and community.

Those who remain to grow from her and to continue her legacy are: a devoted son Wilbert (Sharon) Gamble of Charlotte, North Carolina; a caring daughter Alfreda G. (Mark) Ousley of Sumter, South Carolina, youngest son, Eric T. Gamble of Columbia, South Carolina, thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and Jerome Smalls who was like a son.
