Brian Keith Freeney, 68, was born in Waterbury Connecticut to the late Leon and Annie Freeney on August 10,1956. He transitioned July 1, 2025, in Valdosta GA after a brief illness.
Brian spent his formative years in Waterbury, attending Walsh School and Kennedy High School. An outstanding athlete since childhood, his prowess as a baseball player and left-handed pitcher earned him the nickname Slugger. After high school Brian enlisted and served in the United States Navy. Upon returning home from serving his country, he worked at Southbury Training School for many years where he met his first wife, Juanita Moss. Together they had a son, Brian Jr.
After retiring, Brian moved from Naugatuck Connecticut to Valdosta Georgia with his wife, best friend and love of his life Cynthia and their son Leon. He became an active member of the APA Pool League in Valdosta where he treasured the comradery, community and competitive play of his fellow team members.
Brian leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Cynthia, his sons Brian Freeney Jr. and Leon Antonio Freeney, brothers Leon W. Freeney Sr. (Nicole) of Staten Island New York, and Shawn Freeney Sr. (Sheena) of Waterbury CT, sisters Sabrina Freeney of Atlanta GA , Katrina Bell of Meriden, CT, and Luvenia Brooks of Atlanta GA. and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The family thanks the Scott and Roberts Funeral Home for their compassionate support during this time.
A public viewing for Mr. Brian Freeney will be held on Thursday, July 10 at 6:00 P. M. at Scott and Roberts.
