Obituary For James Hunter

James Lee Hunter (Jimmy) departed this life on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at his residence in the Bronx, New York.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 21, 1961 to the late Louise Hunter and James Lee.

He was educated in the New York City public school system attending P.S. 134 (elementary), P.S. 61 (Junior High)., and William H. Taft (High School).

He was proceeded in death by his wife Kim Hunter, mother Louise Hunter, father James Lee, grandfather James Hunter, and grandmother Emma Louise Hunter.

It was while at William H. Taft senior high that Jimmy's high aptitude for music and love of being a Disc Jockey became apparent. He knew every song. Give him 8 bars and he could name it. And, given the chance he would pick out the hook on the piano playing "by ear". Jimmy was also a rapper known as "Kid Finness" in the 80s. He cared deeply for his family and friends. And, as a self proclaimed and seldom disputed "master chef", he loved family time, friends, cooking, and having a good time. He was also known to speak a little Spanish when needed.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters Jamisha (Tanisha) and Tatiana (Pepper); three older sisters, Linda, Louise, Jordan (husband - Isaac; nieces - Sharisse and Shaniece), Altamese Hunter Morgan (husband - Clay; nieces - Josie, Janice, and Clarese) and Patricia Jamesetta Hunter (nieces - Janeen, Wallisha, Alexis, Venchenzia, and Nyvenia; nephews - Lewis and Alphonso); a best friend and cousin Michael Hunter; a special friend Vickie Crumel, and a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. Jimmy was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church (Bronx) as a child and Union Grove Baptist Church (Bronx) as an adult.

Memorial service for Mr. Hunter will be held on Saturday, August 26 at 10:00 A. M. at the Pallbearer Cemetery with Rev. Hooker officiating. If you are unable to attend the service, please join us at scottandrobertsmortuary.com to witness the celebration.
