Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7
Leila Demps Robinson, affectionately known as “Sis,” was born on June 3, 1939, in Brooks County, Georgia, to the late RJ Demps and Leila Denson Demps. On Sunday, August 24, 2025, Sis peacefully transitioned from this life at the home of her niece in Thomasville, Georgia.
As a child, Sis attended Sweetfield Baptist Church in Brooks County and later attended Lilly White Holiness Church in Valdosta, Georgia. She received her education in the Brooks County School System. Sis especially enjoyed reading and completing word search puzzles.
Sis’s love for family was without measure. After moving from Quitman to Valdosta to help her sister Lizzie raise her children, Sis later became a caregiver to her brothers, RJ, Elijah, and Jerry in their final years. After Lizzie’s passing, Sis relocated to Thomasville to live with her beloved niece, Mary Turner.
Sis will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, her funny expressions that made us laugh, and the deep affection she held for those she loved.
In addition to her parents, Leila was proceeded in death by her husband, Willie C. Robinson; sisters, Mary Patterson and Lizzie Demps Daniels; brothers, RJ Demps, Elijah Demps, and Jerry Demps; nieces, Maggie Gates, Mary Demps, and Shirley Demps Morrison; great nieces, Shantana Arnold, Patricia Demps Brundage and great nephews, Nathan Gates and Matthew Zachary Moss. Her beloved dog, Sally, whom she loved like her child, also preceded her in death.
She will forever be in the hearts of her brother Jack Demps (Mae); niece, Mary Turner (Albert); nephews, Charles Demps (Margurite), Robert Demps (Deborah), Theodore Demps (Lynette James); great nieces and nephews, Ellis Roundtree, Anthony Roundtree, Charles Demps, Jr, James Daniels, George Gates III, Jason Gates, Tara Demps Moss, India Demps Bradley, Carlos Demps, Sheena Demps, Latoya Demps, Shemeka Morrison, and Johnny Morrison; step-daughter, Felicia Ann Black; special friends, Hattie Fortner, Lucille Lovejoy and Sharon Burkes. She will also be missed by a host of relatives and friends.
Home going services for Ms. Leila Demps Robinson will be held on Friday, August 29 at 11:00 A. M. at Scott and Roberts Mortuary Chapel with Dr. David Adams officiating. The burial will follow in the Riverview Memorial Garden.
