Mamie Lou Fillmore was born on October 16, 1945 in Valdosta, Georgia. To the late Mr. Ivory Fillmore Sr. and Mrs. Lillie Mae Fillmore Corbett.
Mamie attended Westside High School, where she was the first homecoming queen in Westside High School history.
She was a devoted member of Warren Temple Church under the leadership of Willie L. Scurry.
Mamie was a woman whose life was rooted in love for her family and friends. She had a kind and generous spirit, always putting others first and making everyone feel cared for and welcome. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones, sharing laughter, wisdom and warmth. She will be remembered for devotion, compassion and for how she touched so many lives with her heart. Though she will be deeply missed, her love will continue to lie on in all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Hawkins.
Mamie leaves to cherish her memories four children, Sandra Brown Mainor Valdosta, Georgia, Therese Brown of Valdosta, Georgia. Phyllis Paulette Brown of Valdosta, Georgia and James Brown Jr. of Valdosta, Georgia; three sisters Cleo Bacon of Valdosta, Georgia, Lola Myers of West Palm Beach, Florida and Queen Leggett of Valdosta, Georgia; two brothers Willie Earl Fillmore of Gainesville, Florida and Carl Fillmore (Cora) Miami, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends
Home Going Services for Ms. Mamie Lou Hawkins will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 3:00 P. M. at New Life Bible Church Elder Lonnie Denton is the Pastor and Rev. Leroy Henderson, Jr. will officiate, and the burial will follow in the Pallbearer Cemetery.
