Sgt. Archie Moore, a dedicated, devoted Christian brother and ordained Pastor was born on November 20, 1960, the only biological son of John Cass (J.C.) and Bertha Burns Moore. Raised on a farm in Clyattville/Valdosta, Georgia, he was given the name of the famous African-American boxer. He had a fighting spirit, and often displayed those skills to defend his right as an elementary student to wear his gentlemanly attire (suspenders, tie, and dress hat) to school. He was an avid dancer and an excellent football player. The family laughed as he would often dance the lengthy distance from the highway to the house just for fun as his carefully and personally maintained, afro hairstyle bowed and bopped in the breeze. He seemed to feel music in his very bones.
From an early age, he loved hunting (becoming an expert marksman) and fishing, and later learned to prepare tantalizing delicacies from his expeditions. In fact, he became such a good cook and grillmaster, that the family called him, ”Chef-a-la-Archie-Bud-Bobe”, a combination of his name, nicknames and hobbies. Like his mother, he was a superb baker, and they often competed in the kitchen.
Pastor Archie graduated from Lowndes High School in 1978 and enrolled at Dillard University. While in college, he yielded to the appeal to serve his country. He served eight years in the United States army, rising to the rank of sergeant and being a watchman, developed an ability to sleep while standing with his eyes wide open. As a result, his fellow soldiers jokingly declared him to be part ‘horse’.
After his military service, he dedicated his life to God and his fellow man. While residing in San Jose and Palo Alto, California, he became a member of a powerful body of believers doing community outreach and soul-winning, services he continued throughout his life. As an ordained Pastor, he established Aggressive Faith Ministries, LLC.
Being ever a bi-vocational Pastor, he was employed as a CDL operator for a hazardous waste and recycling company, followed by auto sales, social services work, Brinks security, and Hospice/Healthcare services. During these years, he moved to Tampa, Florida, married and became the proud father of four daughters: The Moore Four, his love and legacy, Meleah Ginelle, Hannah Mariah, Sarah Abigail, & Rachael Rebecca. He also was a member of the River Church and a graduate of it’s bible college.
On March 7, 2026, he joined a great cloud of loving witnesses and ancestors including his parents, elder brother Larry D. Johnson, baby sister Tabitha Sabrina Moore, and elder sister Earnestine Moore Weeks. Those who remain include his sisters: Minister Emily Moore, Esq. and Mary Evelyn Moore Waters; one special great niece, Jazlin Johnson and her mother, Brittney Davis-Horne, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pastor Archie was the ultimate expression of God’s love personified. He was a gift from God to all who came in contact with him.
