Obituary For Algenon Lorenza Brown

Algenon L. Brown, 95, of Richmond, died January 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen H. Brown. Surviving are his daughter, Dr. Kelly Lemons Carter (Kenneth Sr.); son, Judge Kevin L. Brown (Renee); four grandchildren, Stephen, Adam, Shannon and Julian; three great-grandchildren, Hailee, Hana and Emmy; two nephews, Craig and Alan Powell; niece, Lynda Powell; devoted cousin, Barbara Scott; other relatives and friends. Mr. Brown was a Navy veteran, member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Astoria Beneficial Club, Inc., C. F. Foster Scholarship Foundation, Inc. of The Astoria Beneficial Club, Inc., Theban Beneficial Club, Club 533 and a longtime Deacon and member of Fourth Baptist Church. He was a retired middle school principal for Richmond Public Schools and was a former member of the Richmond School Board . He was an active Commissioner for Richmond International Airport where he had served for 25 years. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where a walk-through viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, January 18. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Rev. Dr. Marion Tapscott officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
