Obituary For Allexis Marche' Mitchell

Allexis Marche' Mitchell, 22, of Mechanicsville, transitioned peacefully in her mother’s arms on February 11, 2021 at Bon Secours Hospice House, after a long and courageous battle with chronic kidney disease. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Matthew Christian.

Allexis was born October 2, 1998 in Richmond, Virginia to the union of Shawn Eric Mitchell Sr. and Lafonya C. Hunter. She was the youngest of two children.

At an early age, Allexis professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at Fifth Street Baptist Church. While attending Fifth Street Baptist Church, she participated in several church sponsored programs such as the Girl Scouts, Children & Youth Choir and Bible class. She was a Sophomore at O’Fallon Township High School (OTHS) in O’Fallon, Illinois, Class of 2017 before she fell ill. Allexis was very active. She cheered for the Chamberlayne Youth Football Association, sang Soprano for the OTHS Select Choir as well as briefly played the violin. The relationship she had with her brother, Shawn, was not like any other. Shawn and Allexis were only 18 months apart and where you often saw him, you saw her. She would often say her brother was her only true friend because he was with her through her journey and she knew that he would always have her back. They had an unbreakable bond. The love that she had for her brother would soon have to be shared, as she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first niece.

Allexis was a lover of art, music and an aspiring makeup artist. She was hilariously funny, outspoken and fair. Allexis symbolized strength, beauty and was loved by all that spent time with her, young and old. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. We will always remember her infectious smile, her beautiful eyes and her caring personality. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.

When you think of Allexis, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest. Allexis was loved, is missed and will always be cherished.

Left to cherish her memories are her encouraging mother, Lafonya C. Hunter (Conie); protective brother, Shawn Eric Mitchell Jr.; father, Shawn Eric Mitchell Sr.; maternal and paternal grandparents, Charmine Lowe (Gary) and Lester Mitchell Sr. (Madeline); maternal great grandparents, Clarence Winns Jr. and Evelyn Winns; step grandmother, Janice (Ronnie) Christian; five uncles, eight aunts, a host of cousins, three devoted, Amir Jackson, Eiden Harvery and Londyn Graves; a supportive godmother, Monica Sharper Brown (Shawn); two loving godsisters, Khyia Harley and Brooklynn Brown; three treasured friends, Ceci Cintron, Miranda Pope, Marcus Robinson and her loyal dog, Dexter.
