Alvin T. Kelley, Sr., 80, of Richmond, died September 27, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Loving Kelley. Surviving are his son, Alvin T. Kelley, Jr. (Letitia); step daughter, Kia Jackson Dawson (Anton); six grandchildren, William Hollingsworth, III, Breanna, Jordan, and Madison Kelley, Senora and Vincent Dawson; sister, Vicky James (Loyal); two brothers, Ronald (Gail) and Gerald (Irene) Kelley; uncle, Marvin Copeland (Jessie Mae); host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Kelley retired from Elizabeth City State University as Football and Basketball coach. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where viewing will be held Sunday, October 9 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 10 at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Coach Kelley was beloved by my late husband, Waide Robinson. Waide played football at ECSU and was inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame with Coach playing a key role in that honor. I am so sorry for your loss but I am happy that he and Linda have been reunited in Heaven

I played for coach Kelly and the Vikings from 1970 until 1974. Coach Kelly was not only a great football coach but he was a mentor and father figure to me. My condolence goes out to The Kelly family. The book of Psalms chapter 30 verse 5 tells us that weeping may endure for a the night but joy comes in the morning.
