On loan from Heaven, Arthur Hugh Coleman, Sr., 84, entered this earthly realm in Mecklenburg County, Virginia on May 20, 1937, into the arms of his beloved parents, Arthur Lee Coleman and Dorothy Mae Taylor Coleman. Leaving a legacy of devotion to God, his family and his church, God called him to his Heavenly Reward quietly in his home on November 8, 2021. Arthur was a member of the 1957 graduating class from Southside High School in Dinwiddie, Virginia. He was an excellent student and enjoyed participating in several school activities to include being a member of the basketball team. As a child, Arthur symbolized love, devotion, strong work ethics, inner strength, and spirituality. He continued exhibiting those qualities into adulthood. Arthur married Annie Corine Ridley Coleman in 1960, and from this union, one loveable, bouncing baby boy, Arthur Hugh Coleman, Jr., was born. Arthur served two years in the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Seattle, Washington. Arthur was a sophisticated, handsome, distinguished, and intelligent God-fearing man with many talents and interests. Few people knew that he was an excellent artist with a true God-given talent. He was also a bit of handyman and could repair various things around his home or the church. He also loved to travel and cruise, and vacationed in Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, California, Pennsylvania, and several Caribbean islands. Being an extremely hard worker, Arthur was fortunate to land several lucrative jobs throughout his life. After many successful years as a manager, he concluded his career and retired from Graybar Electric Company with many accolades and commendations. Arthur was a devout member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia and began touching many lives through his outreach and various ministries. He had a generous spirit that lifted those close to him, and his easy-going, soft-spoken manner was evident through his active participation in literally everything. He actively served on the Deacons, Trustees, Ushers, and Men’s ministries. He also served as a Boy Scout leader and regularly attended Church School, Tuesday morning Bible Study and Prayer meeting, and Vacation Bible School. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Corine Ridley Coleman. He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory his loving son, Arthur Hugh Coleman, Jr.; two sisters, Doris L. Coleman and Ernestine C. Newsome; four brothers, James E. Coleman (Shirley), Robert E. Coleman, David R. Coleman (Rosa-deceased), and Dr. John W. Coleman (Gladys); a caring and devoted companion, Ellen T. White; one uncle, Richard M. Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the Good Shepherd Baptist Church Family. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. I send My Deepest and Heartfelt Condolences to Big(Lil Brother) / AC and Fam. Daddy Coleman, was like a Father to Me. He gave Me both Carnal and Spiritual Advice and showed Me Love and Patience as the Loving and God-fearing Man he was. At a time in my life when I had No Father figure or Positive Make role model nearby to communicate with; He became that and much more. At times, I think Daddy Coleman as well Ma Anne showed more patience with Me than AC. I'll cherish the times I've shared in his presence. AC, please be Happy in knowing, that Dad is a Saved Man and and He's got his wings....We gotta get there to meet him, Bro! Let's Celebrate Him, My Brother!
RIH, Daddy Coleman, Sir!

Condolences goes out to Mr. Coleman's family from William & Joann Kidd. I remember Mr Coleman from Good Shepherd Bapist Church. I didn't know him personally but my impression of him was that of a gentle soul. I'll truly miss his presence.
Our sincerest condolences to your family during this sorrowful time. We are praying that you are granted the strength to endure doing this time of bereavement. Your neighbor, Mrs. Spencer Y. Harris and family.
A "Great Light" will never flicker out, and Memories will never fade. Our condolences from The Dragons of QUI and The Nelson Family.
My sincere condolences to all of your family & friends. Grandpa. A role that you biologically weren't assigned but GOD said "she needs you". I don't remember when we met but EVERYONE told me the story of me crying and nobody could stop it but you. You were my "Black Santa" your grey hair and the blue ring around your eyes made you magical to me. Your deep voice was calming. Your grin. You allowing me to jump into your arms until I got too big so I'd squeeze you so tight whenever I hugged you. I wish we could have had that one last lunch date we said we'd have. I wish I would have called more just to say hello. But I am 100% content with the memory and the deep connection we had. I've always believed physically we can only do so much to help each other on earth but when you become an ancestor you are with GOD in a divine spiritual way you are now more powerful than you've ever been. You a FREE and I welcome your spirit and energy to guide me along with my other ancestors. I'll love you forever & don't laugh at me if my voice cracks when I sing to you Friday, just hold my hand. My heart hurts so bad but that's the selfishness of being in the physical wishing nothing ever had to change. ❤️
Our condolences to the Coleman family. Mr. Coleman always said we were family and family we were. He loved my daughter Brittany so much that he called her his granddaughter. He was like a Grandpa to her. Mr. Coleman we loved you dearly, you have earned your wings, rest in peace. Mckinley & Margaret Ross and family.
