Bonita Lynn Shearn Hansom, 66, of Newport News Va., departed this life October 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hansom, brother, Robert Hopkins and nephew William Simpson. Surviving are her daughter, Shareen Atkins; one son, Robert Selvic Coleman; five grandchildren, Lakia, Dasia, Tyzhaun, Kyron and Skylar; three great-grandchildren, Kiyah, Kamiyah and Kyrie; mother and father, Loretta and Edward Shearn, Sr.; three sisters, Sandra McGee (William), Robin Harris (Alvin), and Antonia Valentine (Gerald); three brothers, Edward Shearn, Jr. (Cheryl), Michael Shearn (Sandra), and Rodney Shearn (Trina); ten nieces, Shajana, Miranda, Nikia, Jessica, Kendall, Rachel, Cierra, Tiffany, Kara and Tori; nine nephews, Robert, Daryl, Edward III, Javin Michael, Westley, Alvin, Jr., Jaden, Joshua and Montrey; a host of cousins, one devoted Patricia Scott; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Pastor Edward Shearn, Jr., officiating. Interment private. Live streaming at scottsfuneralhome.com
