On Sunday August 20,2023 God summoned our beloved David Lewis Howell into eternal rest. David was born on September 15, 1962 in Palmer Springs, VA to the late Shirley Mae Howell Haywood and Clarence Hope.
He was baptized at the age of 12 at Providence Park Baptist Church. While serving at Providence Park Baptist Church throughout his childhood and adulthood he served on the Men's Usher Board, the Inspiration Choir, the Transportation Ministry, Video Ministry, and the Security Ministry.
David had a love for many things. One of his loves and items which made him very proud was his service to his country. David enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 18 until he was honorably discharged in December of 1987. During his time in the army, he earned the Army Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Expert Badge (Rifle). David was a gun enthusiast. His love for guns and swords were seen as he proudly displayed them throughout his home. David was a proud member of Cobra One MC. He loved the time he spent on his motorcycle and the relationships built with his club members. David's biggest love was the one cultivated with his wife, children, and grandchildren. David and Pearle met in history class while attending Marshall Walker High School and blossomed a 42-year long marriage.
David was proceeded in death by his mother; Shirley Mae Howell Haywood, father; Clarence Hope , and stepfather; James Haywood ;and a host of beloved uncles and aunts.
David leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife; Pearle Howell; two daughters, LaShawndra Howell(Linwood); and Cassandra Maye(Derrius); seven grandchildren , Amari, Alexis, Linwood, Keitoin, David, Shawn , Cianna; brother, Clarence Pittman ; sister, Natalie Haywood; 3 devoted friends Franklin Dubose, John Morton, and Steven Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where viewing will be held Monday, August 28 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 29 at Providence Park Baptist Church, 468 E. Ladies Mile Road. Rev. Dr. Jerome Ross, officiating. Rev. Dr. Derrius Maye, eulogist. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery Amelia.

I was friends with David in middle school and high school. He was a very good brother and we had a lot of laughs together. One of my fondest memories of David was when he tried to teach me karate.
