I find myself at a loss as we prepare to bid farewell to a phenomenal woman who was not just my friend's mother, and my godchild's grandmother, but also a second mother and a friend to me. I loved and respected her dearly. Mrs. Carter was a beacon of encouragement, always instilling confidence and a sense of pride in all who were around her. Her commitment to the community was unwavering, and her love knew no bounds. She was as funny as she was wise and always found ways to make me laugh. We already know her culinary skills are unmatched! Every moment with her felt like home, a warm and welcoming embrace that I will deeply miss. Mrs. Carter was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman, exemplifying strength, virtue, faith, wisdom, and love in every facet of her life. She was a shining of example of a mother and wife. Her devotion to Mr. Carter and her children was unconditional and endless. Remembering her today, and always, for the love, wisdom, and kindness she showered upon us all. Rest in peace my dear. My heart immediately was filled with sorrow when I got the news of my Aunt Nakie passing. I cannot imagine what Uncle Dannie, Makeda, Aisha, Maurice, Nylla, Jalonni, Mila and Lil Mo are experiencing in this moment, just know that you all are loved and have a huge family and support system with you during this time. My sympathy and condolences go out to the family of Dorothy Carter. Dorothy worked as a teacher for Richmond Public Schools'Educare Program. She was very interested in teaching and helping students, especially those who had behavioral problems. Students looked up to her because she was 'Real' with them. She was instrumental in helping them to change their behavior and give them a new attitude. I am happy to have been her administrator while working at Educare. Dorothy became a close friend of mine and I will miss her. Her pleasant memories will be with me forever. We met at James Solomon Russell HS and became instant friends because of our love of sports and clowning around in class. Mr. Atkins and Ms. Short were glad to see us graduate.
