Emma Lou Clark, 82, of Richmond, departed this life March 5, 2025. She was the eldest daughter of the late Joe and Dollie Nobles and was born on November 29, 1942 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin, Linwood, Erskin and Christopher Nobles.
Emma received her education at Eastern High School, in Baltimore, Maryland. After attending the public schools in Maryland, she joined the U.S. Army and later became a member of the U.S. Army Reserve for 23 years.
While serving in the U.S. Army Reserve, Emma met and married Milton E. Clark, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois. After relocating to Richmond, Virginia, they both became active members of Fifth Baptist Church. Emma was a member of the Voices United in Christ, Fantastic Seniors, Veterans Ministry, FIfth Baptist Mission Society, a leader for Circle Nine and an assistant of Christian Service for two years. She was also Vice President of Mission Ministry and was appointed in 2002 as a life member of the Baptist General Convention Division of Women.
Emma was employed at Defense General Supply Center (DGSC) in Richmond for over 20 years. She retired in September 1999. During her retirement ceremony, it was noted that she had payroll deductions for over 25 charitable organizations. After retirement, Emma did volunteer work at Chippenham Medical Center until she retired in February 2017.
Emma L. Clark was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband Milton E. Clark, Jr.; three children, David Burke (Veronica), Dana Sykes, of Richmond, and Steven Clark, of Traverse City, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Brandon Burke, Adrian Irving, Cory and Azariah Sykes, Tiffany Ziegler, Felicia Clark Bartholomew, Emily Osborn, David Burke, Jr., and Malachi Burke; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Nobles (Barbara), of Baltimore , Maryland; sister, Deborah Nobles-McDaniel (Ervin), of Charleston, South Carolina; brother-in-law, Joseph Clark (Jane), Sacramento, California; sisters-in-law, Sue Nobles and Brenda Nobles; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary St.. Rev. Earl M. Brown, officiating. Interment 1 p.m. Monday, March 17th at Amelia Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Va. Live streaming of service go to 5thbcva.org

I had the privilege of meeting Emma 3 years ago. Her love for spiritual things so impressed me.
