Rest In Peace my Friend. See u on the other side. Sending my condolences to the family. Lena Shelton!
To the family of the late Ernest Waller. It has taken me this long to begin to say anything because your death came as such a shock to me as I assume it was to many! We met in 2007 and a bunch of us just became one big happy family when you and Smooth Sensation use to play at the Marshall Street Cafe'! The place would only hold about 40 people and that was packed...the laughter the music and good times we all shared will always be remembered. Rest in paradise my dear friend I am sure they can use another great drummer & barber in heaven. I don't know what Jerry Jones will do without you but I do know that you were truly a DC4L.
Family and Friends: Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no can steal. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Miss you Papa...."The Carddddd" lol. Love you Papa! Ashley
On behalf of myself and "Standing Room Only" our condolences go out to the families and friends of Ernest Waller. I first met Ernest in 1972 when I was looking for a drummer for "Standing Room Only". I had just reorganized and renamed the band and was looking for new members. I heard Ernest play and he became our drummer. At that time the original members were: Hugo Thompson(guitar),Phillip Thompson(Bass),Gordon Thompson (Trumpet), Alfred Quarles (Trumpet), Milton Quarles (Trumpet), Wayne Street (Trombone), Joe Taylor(Tenor Sax/Flute) Richard Harmon (Keyboards), James Moseley (Keyboards), Nadino Sayles (Percussions) and Ronald 'Shine' Smith(Lead Vocals).Ernest was a perfectionist when it came to playing drums. His motto was "practice makes perfect". Ernest played with SRO until 1977. In that 5 year span what a great time we had. We were all tight friends. We loved to play music together and to have fun (crazy fun at times).I could go on and on. After Ernest left SRO,he continued to support and serve as an advocate for the band. He loved "Standing Room Only". He was proud of the fact that he was an original member. From 1972 until 2004,49 members have been a part of Standing Room Only Band. Recognizing each member by name would be quite extensive. On behalf of all the members,I take great pride in honoring the memory of Ernest by dedicating a Special Crimson,Red and White Standing Spray flower that will serve as a reminder of Ernest's faithfulness to SRO. Rest in peace our brother. We love you and we will miss you. Hugo Thompson

R.I.P. Ernest from your dear friend Captain Cowboy. Waverly Robert Crawley III and family.
I met Earnest back in the sixties when we were in a Band my cousin Artel Gordon put together named “The Catalina’s.” My cousin asked me to audition to sing for the Band that was already formed but need a girl singer there I met Earnest Walker. The Band were consisted of: Earnest Waller(Drummer), Payton( Trumpet), Clement ( Saki form), Harold Gordon( Bass Guitar), Skimmer(Male Singer), and I ( Girl Singer). Earnest was the BEST DRUMMER I’ve ever known. I was So shock to here of his passing, but I know he’s gone to a Glorious place Called Heaven and he can make sweet music in the Heavenly Band praising God Forevermore. Rest In Peace and Power Earnest, and to the Family, Earth Has No Sorrow That Heaven Cannot Heal.
I have been with the same barber for more than 40 years. Every two weeks, I get my haircut. In the 40 years, only once have I had another barber cut my hair. My barber, Ernest, cuts only by appointments. He is a perfectionist, skilled, and selective in his clientele. Yesterday I went to my scheduled appointment. When I arrived in the shop and went to his booth, I noticed the staff was watching me as I approached Ernest’s booth. I was met by the owner and one of Ernest’s clients. The owner asked the client to tell me the news since he was also a friend of mine. The news was that Ernest passed away a week ago. I was told that he was at home alone when he died. In his booth, there was a portrait of him. Ernest was a good man and knew the Lord.
This event is not unique to only me. You may have experienced a similar event of the sudden death of a person that you recently talk to. This abrupt loss causes us to stop and reflect on this gift of life. It reminds us to take nothing for granted.
God has given each of us a part of him. He has given us unique purposes, skills, and talents. We should
1. Understand that God is our friend, protector, and provider. 2. Study, know, and apply his word through wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. 3. Know the we have pre-determined abilities to make an impact in this life. 4. Identify our purposes. 5. Avoid the disruptions around us that take us off the path that God wants us to stay on. 6. Treat everyone with love and respect. 7. Believe that we are children of God and meant to be “more than” not “less than”. 8. Use our talents to help others. 9. Do not take anything for granted. 10. Know that when this life is over, God has promised his faithful the gift of eternal life.
Ernest’s time on this earth has ended, but our journey is not over. For the 86,400 seconds that we still have each day, appreciate this gift of life. Let the appreciation be seen in us; let it be infectious. Take nothing for granted. Trust not in this world, but trust in God.
Honor Ernest by setting a positive example to others. Marion Long
