I had the awesome pleasure of meeting Jimmy while we were students at Norfolk State University. He was the sweetest and funniest guy ever. As time and life happens our little circle lost touch. When I relocated here to Richmond I ran into him once again and Jimmy was still the same sweet and funny Jimmy. May God give you the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness and the oil of joy for your mourning. Behold! Deborah Evans-Price c/o '89

One thing that I know about Brother Jimmy Spurlock, he knows how to sing. He was forever predicting that he would be the next Star Search, American Idol or The Voice winner. Well, I'm here to say that Brother Jimmy Spurlock is now 'front and center' singing not only with the Angels but also doing what he loved which was bringing a smile to everyone's faces. All of us knew him well 'before' he moved to Georgia and continued to know him well 'after' he moved away from Georgia.
Needless to say, there is a void in my heart as he definitely made a lasting impact on me while he was here on God's Earth. Now, his work will continue but on behalf of God. May Norfolk State's shining star never grow dim. Stay strong and stay blessed Jimmy's entire family. He will be deeply missed.

What can one say about a great man and a great friend and brother. I have been struggling with all of this since I was told of the passing and remembering that Jimmy and I had just talked Thursday morning. Over the past 40+ years, we have made so many memories and when I was home for Father's Day weekend this year, I missed the chance to hang out with him. Who am I going to call when I need to laugh after a rough day? Who is going to keep me lifted when I am down? Who am I going to sign with and talk about the future? You have gained your wings my friend. I will miss you so much. My love goes to the Spurlock Family. Thank you for being a part of my growing up and being my family
I met Jimmy in 2008 through my cousin at the racetrack. Jimmy and I immediately connected. I will always cherish our friendship. He will be missed...Shauna
