Joseph Darnell Burroughs, Sr., 70, of Chester, VA, departed this life October 12, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alice L. Burroughs; son, Joseph D. Burroughs, Jr.; Surviving are his wife, Cheryl A. Burroughs; daughter, Erica Banks (Mel); sister, Cheryl Johnson (Jay); brother, Ronald Burroughs, Sr. (Yvonne). Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd, where viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023. MY HEART REALLY GOES OUT TO THE ENTIRE BURROUGHS FAMILY. I HAD THE PLEASURE OF WORKING WITH JD FOR SOME TIME. HE WAS ALWAYS SO POISED AND PUT TOGETHER. VERY WISE AND KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT A LOT OF THINGS. ESPECIALLY GRTC. HE KNEW THE ENDS AND OUTS OF BEING A OPERATOR AS WELL AS A SUPERVISOR. AND HE WAS TRULY GREAT AT THEM ALL. I WILL MISS HIM DEARLY.
