Obituary For Patricia Serena Moore

After a long prosperous life, on September 22, 2024, Patricia Serena Moore, of Blakeslee, Pennsylvania, exchanged her cross for a crown to be with our Lord and Savior. She was born on February 24, 1946 to the late Pastor Herbert Fletcher and the late Evangelist Jennie M. Brandon-Fletcher, from their union she was the third child and the eldest daughter out of five siblings.

Patricia accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, as a young member of New Shepard Pentecostal Holiness Church in Richmond, Virginia. As a daughter of a Pastor and Evangelist, she was a member of the youth choir and was known for playing the tambourine.

During Patricia’s childhood she attended Lunenburg County Public Schools. Years later her parents relocated to the city of Richmond and she then attended Richmond Public Schools. In Patricia’s early adulthood she relocated her family to Paterson, New Jersey. She obtained her GED from John F. Kennedy High School located in Paterson, New Jersey and then obtained an Associate degree in Nursing at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, New Jersey.

Patricia was a dedicated and faithful wife to the late Albert M. Moore for 28 years from 1963 – 1991. She was also the proud and loving mother to Deborah A. Moore-Wilson and Tynisha L. Moore-Johnson and supportive grandmother to her only grandson, Darryl Wilson Jr.

She spent most of her career taking care of others. She retired from the State of New Jersey with 30 years of service while working at “North Jersey Development Center” located in Totowa, New Jersey. After her retirement she decided that she wanted to continue to work, therefore, Patricia worked 10 additional years at Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Corrections Center located in Port Jarvis, New York. She also worked part time at Primerica as a Licensed Life Insurance Agent for 8 years.

Patricia was known for her tenacity, perseverance and resilience. She was able to overcome various challenges in her life in which she had the ability to bounce back from setbacks and adapted to difficult situations with strength and determination. She was also a hard worker and demonstrated the model for her daughters and others of what life looks like if you work hard. She pride herself with morals and values that highlighted her integrity and work ethics.

Patricia loved God and realized that he was the author of her life. She enjoyed attending Christian empowerment conferences, she loved gospel concerts. In addition she also enjoyed listening to jazz, rhythm and blues. One of her favorite saying was “Always remember to pray before you go and pray before you leave, You must put God first”. She was a firm believer that “Pleading the blood of Jesus still works.” Patricia loved her family, she invested and poured her heart into her daughters and grandson.

After Patricia’s final retirement she was fortunate to be able to travel the world to several Caribbean Islands. She was known for her classic and conservative stylish suits and designer purses.

In addition to her parents preceding her in death, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Lucinda Harris and two brothers, Albert and Charles Fletcher. Left to cherish her beloved memory are two devoted daughters, Deborah Moore-Wilson of Henrico, VA and Tynisha Moore-Johnson (Mychael) of Chesterfield, VA; grandson, Darryl Wilson Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC; sister, Tiffany Fletcher of Paterson, NJ; brother, Linwood Andre Fletcher (Betsie)of Henrico, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, two best friends, Shirley Jordan of Paterson, New Jersey and Dianne Diggs of Paterson, New Jersey; close friend, Yvette Bell of Blakeslee, Pennsylvania and many other friends.

Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. where viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2024 followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green officiating. Elder Linwood Fletcher eulogist. Interment private. Livestreaming at scottsfuneralhome.com.
