In Loving Memory of Rita Ellen Watson
Rita Ellen Watson, age 74, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, May 20, 2024 in her home. Born on April 15, 1950 in Washington, DC, Rita was a beloved mother, sister, cousin, grandmother, and friend.
Rita is survived by her three loving children Mrs. Tanya L. Simmons [Louis, Simmons, Jr.], Ms. Dana Ellen Watson and Mr. Waddell Graham Watson. She leaves behind her brother Mr. Ronald Wilson [Gail Wilson] and her predeceased sister Ms. Regina Wilson. She was so proud of her seven grandchildren: Aynae Ashaunte Simmons (25) Ja"Meen Tucker (24), Daria Alise Simmons (20), Reese Griffin (20), Romello Griffin (19), Samaya Ellen Goffney (16) and Waddell Dominique Watson (9-months). Rita cherished two nephews Mr. Mark Wilson and Mr. Ronald Abernathy and one niece Mrs. Kathryn Wilson-Granger and a host of cousins and friends.
Rita retired as a caring License Practical Nurse (LPN), where her first priority was to care for the lives of others. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering faith as a Jehovah Witness. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering commitment to her family and friends.
A celebration of Rita's life will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 11:00am at Oakwood Cemetery (Graveside Service) located at 3101 Nine Mile Rd, Richmond, VA 23223. The viewing will be Sunday, May 26, 2024 from 11am to 5pm at Scott's Funeral Home located at 115 Brookland Park Blvd, Richmond, VA 23222. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Rita are invited to attend.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those that visited, provided nourishment, called, text and prayed during this difficult time.
Rest in peace Rita, you will be deeply missed and forever cherish
