Robert Taylor Greene, Jr, 59, of Richmond, gained his wings on August 25, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He was born to the union of Delores Ann Richburg and Robert Taylor Greene on March 27, 1963. Robert grew up in the North Run Estates of Henrico, where he played little league football and enjoyed caring for plants in his greenhouse. As part of a loving, Christian household, Robert grew in His knowledge of the Lord and accepted Christ as his Savior. He was baptized at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Richmond. Robert graduated from Hermitage High School in 1981 and played clarinet in the marching band. He began his post-secondary education at Hampton University, and after serving his country in the United States Air Force and continuing to work on his educational goals, Robert completed his undergraduate degree in Political Science in the Class of 1991 at Virginia Union University. Robert followed his father into Greek life and service as he pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. Robert enrolled at Virginia Commonwealth University where he followed his parents’ path into the field of education. He earned the Master of Education degree in Special Education in 1995 and served as a special education teacher in Hanover County Public Schools and in the private sector before switching careers, obtaining a degree and certification in IT Network Administration from the ECPI College of Technology, and thereby entering the fascinating arena of information technology as an IT Analyst with CarMax Corporation. Robert’s amazing talent and love for music began as part of a harmonious family quartet. He used his melodious tenor voice to sing in a praise team as well as a featured soloist. He was an integral part of the dynamic Male Chorus at Ebenezer Baptist Church, which was directed by his father. Robert’s love of God and family was displayed in all aspects of his life. Throughout his prolonged illness, he sought to inspire others by sharing his testimony of walking by faith. He wrote of God’s presence in his life and how God sustained him in order that he might be a blessing to others. Robert loved his family and sought every opportunity to care for them even when he himself was struggling physically. Robert even showed God's love to and through his beloved animals, that included a beautiful troupe of dogs, which he affectionately named, "the Wolf Pack" and that brought him comfort and therapy and a great sense of purpose and responsibility in his life. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Drs. Delores and Robert Greene, Sr. Surviving are his loving and devoted sister, Michele Greene Studevant; his cherished niece, Taylor L. Studevant; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends who supported him throughout his challenging days. Robert’s life will be remembered as one of love and light. His pain inspired him to share God’s goodness. His love will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved him. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 216 W. Leigh Street, Richmond. Reverend Dr. Adam L. Bond, officiating. Interment private. Arrangements by Scott’s Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Boulevard.
To the family and friends of Robert Taylor Greene, Jr. a dear friend, Road dog, and all time person of fun laughter, mall hopping, and party, as well as always professional and a man about business. To know the family (Michelle), and a lot of their friends who were also mutually taken by Roberts tenacity of a fun loving and carefree life itself, but not without dignity and pride; it is just unimaginable that he is no longer here with us but in spirit. However life takes us and uses us to make lives better for others. Robert was one of those individuals who did so. And so, we will miss you Robert immensely for all the contributions you brought to our lives and your family. May God bless you, and my deepest condolences of a true loss to all of us. Already prepared a set of golden wings hanging in the Halls of Heaven awaiting Robert's arrival, preordered of course. His wings and his crown shall don him as he enter the pearly gates of heaven and join his parents hand-in-hand as we hail our newest guardian angel forevermore.
