With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Wallace Lee Hurte, who was born on August 5, 1934, in Crewe, Virginia, and went to rest with the Lord on November 5, 2024. He will be forever cherished and missed by his loving family and a multitude of friends.
Wallace leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen James Hurte; his beloved daughter, Laveta Hurte; and his loving son, Cedric Hurte (Scottessa). He was a proud and doting grandfather to Kinsley Hurte. Wallace also leaves behind two cherished brothers, Gilbert Hurte (Edith) and Stewart Hurte (Eva); two beloved sisters, Jane Harris (Raleigh, Sr) and Alease Robertson. He was a dear uncle to Benjamin Hundley III (Marie) and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends who will all deeply miss him.
Wallace's life will be honored with a viewing on November 12, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Scott's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 11 AM at Triumphant Baptist Church, located at 2003 Lamb Avenue. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Cemetery.
Wallace's kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends will always be remembered by those who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone whose lives he touched.

Deacon Hurte was responsible for making Sunday school interesting, which lead me to bible study, which lead me to the deacon ministry at Great Hope. I will always cherish his teachings and leading by example!

Deacon Wallace Hurte presence and those encouraging words will truly be missed. He always had kinds words and lost of wisdom. Deacon Hurte was my parents, Mr. & Mrs. Wilson, Sr. Care Deacon and when his health permitted he was always checking on them by calling and caring on long conversations with dad. When I gave dad the sad news of his passing he was heart broken. Deacon Hurte was so caring to my parents that I told him that I adopted him as my deacon as well.

My heart is so saddened to hear of the passing of Deacon Hurte. I have fond memories of him during the years he was active with the Church School Forum of Richmond and Vicinity.
