She confessed her life to Christ at the age of sixteen and was baptized at the Greater Livingston Baptist Church in Flora, MS. For years she served as a faithful and later jointed New Hope Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Marshall Magee where she served on the Mother’s Board till her health declined.

Sis. Lawson was united in holy matrimony to the Late Bro. Henry Lawson, Jr. on June 18, 1957. To this union, five children were born.

Her physical body is gone, but her spirit will live within the hearts of those she touched. In passing, Sis. Lawson leaves to rejoice in the name of Jesus: five children, Mary L. (Micheal) Harris of Jackson, MS; Henry Earl (Beverly) Lawson, of Edward, MS; Dr. Kathia Lawson-Polk of Jackson, MS; James Henry (Loretta) Lawson of Bolton, MS and Willie Lee (Chenese) Lawson of Orange Park, FL and one step daughter Henrietta Lawson- Johnson of Edward, MS; Four sister, Carrie Bell (Be) Smith of Ann Arbor, MI; Louise (CL) Lowe of Jackson, MS; Lucille (Joe) Cooper of Chicago, IL; and Corean Boulding of Natchez, MS; three brothers Mose (Linda) Thompson of Madison, MS; Rev. Willie L. Thompson and J. C. (Shirley) Simmons, both of Jackson, MS; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers; the Late James Thompson, Jr. and the Late Clifton Thompson, two sisters; the Late Maggie Dell Tyler and the Late Mattie T. Beamon.
