~ Life's Reflection~

A Time to Be Born: Mrs. Carrie Lee Jones Vance was born on January 11, 1948, in Carpenter, MS, to the late Jim Jones Sr. and Willie B. Scott Jones.

A Time to Love: Carrie was the 5th child of 13 children. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a very early age. She began her Christian journey at White Oak Missionary Baptist Church of Carpenter, MS, under the leadership of the late Reverend C. P. Curtis. The church would eventually be renamed Greater White Oak Missionary Baptist Church. Carrie continued to serve faithfully as a choir member, church secretary and a VBS Teacher under the current pastor, Rev. Lonzo McClure, Sr. until 2019, when she experienced a life altering change with her health.

She was married to Johnny Vance and the mother of four children, Tommy Lee Jones (deceased), Vanessa Jones, Johnny Jones, and Debbie Hampton (deceased).

A Time to Die: With strong faith, resiliency, and sheer determination, Carrie was able to defeat the odds and make tremendous strides in her recovery process. Then in August of 2022, an unforeseeable and unexpected health challenge presented itself and interrupted the recovery process. Carrie once again fought valiantly, but she eventually succumbed to her illness. She departed this life on February 25, 2023, at the Promise Hospital in Vicksburg, MS. She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Lee Jones, her daughter, Deborah Jones Hampton, both parents, and several siblings. A Time to Mourn: Carrie Lee Jones Vance leaves to forever cherish her memories; a beloved and devoted husband: Johnny Vance of Utica, MS; one daughter: Vanessa Jones of Vicksburg, MS; a son: Johnny Jones of Utica, MS; brothers: Ron Jones and Willie G. Jones both of Utica, MS; Tommy Jones (Betty) of Marerro, LA, and L. J. Coleman of Jackson, MS; sisters: Castana Jones of Utica, MS, and Estella Coleman Jackson, MS, Sall Raymond (Eric) of Harvey LA, and Diane Harris of Tylertown, MS; two aunts: Ruth Jones of Utica, MS, and Lubertha Rice of Miami, FL; six grandchildren: Thomas and Marcus Jones both of Vicksburg, MS; Indiana Martin, Jonnika Stamps, Rivyrs Stamps, and Rico Shears all of Utica, Ms. a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
