Dr. Handy was my children's optometrist for many years. I'm sad to hear of his passing. He was very professional.

My deepest condolences to the family. Dr. Handy was a phenomenal optometrist and friend of my family over 20 years. He will be truly missed, but his kind heart, warm presence, and love for people will love one.

The best eye doctor ever, whom provided services to myself and children. My prayers are with the family, awesome man, who will be missed dearly.

Dr Handy was always a pleasant gentleman. He was our family's first and only eye Doctor for over 35 years. He was a humble and kind. We are saddened and offer our deepest condolences to his wife and family. 🙏🏼

Condolences to Mrs. MARTHA HANDY and the entire beloved family of Dr. Handy. He was a genuine man of God and his profession. May our great Father in heaven care for the family as they carry on through this time of trial and tribulation. He was a great Christian who loved his church and church family.

Before Dr Handy, I didn't know doctors like him- who actually cared- still existed. His bedside manner, warmth, and attention to patients was unmatched and will be greatly missed. I'm grateful for the time I had with him as my doctor, and am thankful to have known him and been impacted by such an amazing man. Dr Handy will truly be missed and I pray God comforts his wife and family through this time.

From day one, Dr Handy's loving and warm presence made me and my daughter feel welcome, seen, and cared for. Though it wasn't easy at first to accept the treatment plan that he'd given for my toddler, which he later joked about saying "you weren't getting on board mama", I knew he only wanted what was best and readily complied. The attention and care he showed to my child, wanting to be sure to correct the vision issues that he caught, made me decide to make him my eye doctor as well. Dr Handy was a true jewel that will be lovingly missed. My prayers are with his beautiful wife and family. ❤️

My entire family are in deep sorrow to learn of Dr. Handy's transition to a state of rest. We often would imitate Dr. Handy by telling each other, "Look at my ear". Dr Handy has been my optometrist for many years and am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He took care of me even when I didn't have insurance for medication. He was a good man, he was the best!!!! Thank you Doctor Handy for everything, you helped me keep my sight and my meds available. You got me going in the right direction and I'm grateful. My condolences to Martha and the family. I knew Dewey when he was in Optometry school at UAB. My sister invited me to attend their Friday dinners. He helped my husband Stan set up the prayer arch at our wedding 35 years ago and Martha sang for the wedding ceremony. Dewey was a kindhearted man who will be remembered for his smile and gentle laugh. My prayer is for comfort for Martha and the family. He is with the angels in heaven now.
