The funeral services for the late Mr. Arthur Lee Gordon, who departed this life on Monday, May 26, 2025, will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Jones Chapel AME Church, Sylvester, Georgia. Reverend Shirley Strawter will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery. Mr. Arthur Lee Gordon was born on November 8, 1942 in Worth County, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie and Catherine Gray Campbell Gordon.
Arthur grew up in Worth County and attended schools in the Worth County Public School System.
Later in his life, Arthur met and married Essie Lue Golson on March 14, 1964. This union was blessed with four beautiful children: one daughter and three sons.
Arthur Lee was a good husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed. We sometimes wonder “Why?” but we know that God doesn’t make mistakes. We all loved him, but God loved him best.
Arthur Lee was called to Eternal Rest on Monday, May 26, 2025. His parents, his loving wife Essie Lue, six brothers and eight brothers-in-law, have all preceded him in death.
Arthur leaves to cherish his memories his loving daughter, Myra (Ludwig) Brown; three loving sons, Arthur J. (Emma) Gordon, Michael C. (Nikki) Gordon, Bobby L. (Wanda) Gordon; eighteen grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren; his sisters, Patricia Burch, Annie D. King, Ellen L. Gordon, Mary J. Gordon; one brother, Nelson Gordon; five brothers-in-law, Forest (Wanda) Golson, Connell Golson, Bennie Golson, Donald (Carrie M.) Golson, Ronald Golson; six sisters-in-law, Lucy Golson, Betty Golson, Diane Golson, Carolyn Gordon, Gloria Gordon, and Ruthie Mae Gordon, who also preceded him in death; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god brothers, god sisters, and sorrowing friends.
