Obituary For Betty Trawick Shipman Roundtree

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Betty Roundtree, who departed this life on Monday, October 12, 2026, will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. from the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Reverend Samuel Gaines, Pastor, will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery .

Betty Trawick Shipman Roundtree was born on October 4, 1945, in Rebecca, Georgia. She was the youngest and last surviving child of the late Reverend George Trawick and Mrs. Rosa Bell Smith Trawick, and one of eleven children. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Brian Trawick.

Betty received her education in the Turner County Public School System. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a faithful member of Greater St. Luke Baptist Church. After relocating to Lakeland, Florida, she joined New Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she continued to serve with dedication and love. Her faith in God was the steady foundation of her life, guiding her through seasons of joy, challenge, and growth.

Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, family member, and friend. She worked for many years in Sears Roebuck's credit department and later in the accounting department at the Lakeland Ledger Newspaper. She was respected for her diligence, professionalism, and many contributions throughout her career.

Family was one of Betty’s greatest joys. She cherished attending family reunions and looked forward to every opportunity to gather with those she loved. She treasured the bonds that held her family together, the memories they created, and the blessing of watching multiple generations remain connected.

Betty will be remembered for her gentle strength, warm laughter, deep love for her family, unwavering faith in God, and the special place she held in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves a legacy of love, faith, family, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Cherishing her memory are her three sons: Bernard Shipman, Darryl Shipman, and Derrick Shipman; her grandson, Isaiah Wyche (Alaijah); her great‑granddaughter, Kodi Rachel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other beloved relatives, and dear friends.

Though Betty has taken her place among the saints, her life, her love, and the memories she created will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and dearly loved her.
