The funeral services for the late Mr. David Lee Jones, Jr., who departed this life on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Northside Hospital Duluth in Duluth, Georgia, will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 12:00 Noon from the Shepard Memorial Garden in Sylvester, Georgia. Born May 25th 1965, departed this life September 28th 2021. He was born to the late David Lee Jones and Mrs. Anne L. Jones in Sylvester, Ga. David received his early education in the Worth County School System. As a child he grew up in the Jones Chapel AME Church and Macedonia Baptist Church at which time he got baptized in the Macedonia Baptist Church and confessed Christ at 12 years of age. He continues to grow in the Lord.
He met Glenda Faye Lindsey in the 10th grade, fell in love, and after high school married Glenda. The union was blessed with their 3 sons, Tyronne (Heather) James, David Lee Jones, III, Alexander Ali Jones and 1 daughter Alexandra Alia Jones, all of Norcross, Ga.
He was a Coach/mentor for over 25+ years with the Norcross Youth Athletic Department and made a valuable impact on the young men thus encouraging each of them to give back in some form.
He leaves to morn 1 brother Cave’n A. Shipp, of Norcross, Ga. 2 loving sisters Ms. Quentina Jones, and Dr. Melva Jones of Macon, Ga. 1 brother/Cousin Mr., Robert (Larita) Caroll of Mcdough, Ga 1. Brother-n-law/cousin Carror (the late Sue) Wright of Byron, Ga.2 nephews Cameron and Jaden, 2 nieces Jalanna and Jordyn; 2 Stepbrothers Van Smith Harrisburg Pennsylvania, Calvin Hardy of Sylvester, Ga. 1. sister-n-law Mrs. Alma (Mike) Sohn’s, of Tallahassee Fl. 4 brother-n-laws in Tallahassee Fl, Leonard (Lela) Lindsey, William Roberson, Darryl Lindsey and Willie Lindsey 2 brother-n-laws of Atlanta, Ga., Jessie (Connie) Robinson, and Michael (Ashanti) Lindsey 1 sister/niece Mrs. Felicia (Kwaku) Sarpong, 2 aunts Mrs. Lois Burroughs of Absecon, NJ, Mrs. Hazel Woodard, Albany, Ga., Mrs. Barbara Jones (momma#2) of Macon, Ga, Mrs. Linda Jones (step- mother) of Sylvester, Ga., Ms Sheryl Newman a (dear-cousin) of Norcross, Ga., Mr. Burt (Amanda) Johnson of Lithonia, Ga. (special cousin) Garland (Santina) Ingram, of Buford, Ga., Rodderick Burks Of Suwanee, Ga., Ms Lillie Davis-Cannion, of Mel burn, Fla., Mrs. Nikki Harris of Ft. Valley, Ga., Ms Marissa Wright of Macon, Ga. 1st daughter Maya of Lawrenceville, Ga. And Ayanna Hohenkirk, of Johns, Creek, Ga. and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.
I have been the USPS mail lady to the Jones family for many years. I was devastated to learn of the passing of David. He always had a warm smile and was a very hard-working man. My thoughts and prayers or with the family
