Obituary For Eddie Burch Bateman

The funeral services for the late Mr. Eddie Burch Bateman, of 320 Toombs Street, Ashburn, Georgia, who departed this life on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at his residence, will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Eulogy will be delivered by Reverend Christopher Douglas. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia. Mr. Eddie Burch Bateman was born on January 13, 1951 in Sycamore, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jasper and Lizzie Donaldson Bateman.

Eddie attended schools in the Turner County Public School System.

Eddie gave his life to Christ and joined the St. James Baptist Church in Inaha, Georgia.

In 1990, Eddie was united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Shirley Floyd. This union was blessed with one daughter, Miss Ashley Bateman.

On Thursday, December 8, 2022, Eddie heard the Master’s call to come and take his Eternal Rest. His parents preceded him in death.

Eddie leaves to cherish his memories and loving and devoted wife, Shirley Bateman; three children, Ashley Bateman, Brandon Bolden, both of Ashburn, Georgia, Elesia (Melvin) Edwards of Macon, Georgia; two grandchildren, Malayshia Edwards, Marchad Edwards, both of Macon, Georgia; a great grandchild, Malia Edwards; two brothers, Tommy C. (Sylvia) Bateman of Ashburn, Georgia, Jasper Ray (Madella) Bateman of Sumner, Georgia; three sisters, Melton Ruth Pickett, Essie Lee Temple, Gloria Edwards, all of Ashburn, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Bateman, Donna Bateman, Vivian Bateman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Mr. Bateman, you were an awesome friend. I remember you working at Eureka with my dad and I would follow you around the school during the summers and you use to let me drive your red Pontiac 2 door around the school. I was probably around 10 or 11. You will be missed sir. Love you Robert McMillian
