The funeral services for the late Mrs Elizabeth Jackson, who departed this life on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Pruitt Healthcare Sylvester in Sylvester, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Morgan, Georgia, with Pastor, Reverend Jack Johnson, delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Mt. Nebo Church Cemetery in Morgan, Georgia. Elizabeth Haynes Jackson, affectionately known as “Bae”, was born March 23, 1941, in Dickey, Georgia to the late Reverend Anthony and Cleo Henry Haynes.
At an early age, Elizabeth confessed her life to Jesus Christ, and joined the Mount Nebo Baptist Church in Dickey, Georgia.
At an early age, Elizabeth was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Carthel Lewis Sr. This union was blessed with two children, Carthel Leon Lewis, Jr and Martin Lewis. After the passing of her husband, Elizabeth later in life was wed to Grady Jackson, Sr., and this union was blessed with two children, Grady Jackson, Jr. and Konetta Jackson-Tyler.
Elizabeth was educated at Morgan City School. Elizabeth worked at various dry cleaners throughout her life. She retired from Bishop Dry Cleaners in 2009. As a hobby, Elizabeth liked cooking but more especially for her family, friends and for the church events. Elizabeth rejoined Mount Nebo Baptist Church and shortly after, was selected as “The Mother of the Church” by her members in the mid-2000s. She was a faithful member of the church until her health began to decline.
On March 17, 2023, Elizabeth Haynes Jackson transitioned at the Pruitt Health Rehabilitation Center in Sylvester, Georgia. In addition to her parents and her husband, Grady Jackson, Sr., Elizabeth is preceded in death by her four sisters, Marie “Doll” Mills, Ruth Sweetie Jones, Blossie Mae Blackmon and Rosie “Red” Engram, three brothers, James Haynes, Rufus “Dad” Haynes, and Willie C. Haynes.
Elizabeth leaves precious memories to be cherished by her loving and devoted children C. Leon (Gloria) Lewis Jr., Martin Lewis, both of Atlanta, Georgia, Grady (Karen) Jackson, Jr., Konetta (Arthur) Jackson-Tyler, both of Albany, Georgia; grandchildren, Tobias, Leon, Chatoya, Shanderay, Anastasia, Cornelia, Keambre(Douglas), Grady III, Shashawna(Brinson), Lauren, Arthur Jr.; great grand-children, Leylo, Lia, Ethan, Londynn, Nikayla, Trevon, Kennedy, Kandice, Amari, Cydnee, Camylle, Christian, Grady IV, Jashiya, Joy, Jaxon, Jordyn, Kenz ,Kailo; a great great grandchild, Ayden; two sisters, Lucy Bell Perry of West Orange New Jersey, Minnie Woods of Lewes, Delaware; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish memories of her.
