Obituary For Eugenia F. Henry

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Eugenia F. Henry, who departed this life on Thursday, November 16, 2023, will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shingler, Georgia. The Reverend Shirley Strawder will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Eugenia Lamar Farrie Henry was brought into this world on February 16, 1917, in the serene and picturesque Worth County, Georgia. She was the proud daughter of the late Mr. Turner and Mrs. Josephine Lamar and was the youngest of thirteen children, a fact that speaks to the strength and resilience of her parents. Mrs. Henry's birth was a momentous occasion that marked the beginning of a life that would touch countless hearts and inspire future generations.

Eugenia's devotion to Christ was evident from a young age, and she became an enthusiastic member of the Miller's Chapel A.M.E. Church in Sumner, Georgia. Over the years, she contributed significantly to the church's growth and development. Her unwavering commitment to the church shone through her role as the Missionary Department Treasurer and Mother of the Church, where she inspired and guided many congregation members.

Miller's Chapel recognized her exceptional service, which spanned over seventy-five years and served as a testament to the power of faith and unwavering commitment. During her long and fruitful tenure, she not only supported the church financially but also served as a mentor and friend to many. Her dedication to the church was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her legacy continues to inspire generations of believers to this day.

On a beautiful September day in 1938, Eugenia and Mr. Georgia Farrie, Sr. were joined in Holy Matrimony, marking the beginning of a life filled with love and joy. Over the years, their union was blessed with fifteen precious children, each one a testament to their devotion to each other. Despite the passing of Mr. Farrie and later Mr. Walter Henry, Eugenia's love for them never faded, and the memories they shared continue to inspire those who knew them.

Every fiber of her being exuded a warm and welcoming spirit that made everyone feel at home. She went out of her way to ensure every guest felt comfortable and well-fed, even if it meant sacrificing some of her resources. Her children grew up watching her demonstrate an unwavering faith in God through prayer and trust, and they learned to do the same. She was a testament to the power of kindness, generosity, and faith.

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, our dear Mother Farrie left us for Eternal Rest, peacefully passing away at her home with her family by her side. Although her passing profoundly saddens us, we find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her twelve siblings and five children who have gone before her.

Mother Farrie leaves to cherish her memories and legacy four daughters, Betty Davis of Palm Bay, Florida, Juanita (Jimmy) Clark of Melbourne, Florida, Luretha Farrie, Cynthia (Marcus) Farrie, both of Sylvester, Georgia; six sons, George (Elizabeth) Farrie, Jr. of Melbourne, Florida, Benjamin (Mary) Farrie, Charlie (Diane) Farrie, Al (Barbara) Farrie, Lewis (Betty) Farrie, all of Tifton, Georgia, Marcus (Tracy) Farrie of Sylvester, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Marion Farrie of Biloxi, Mississippi; Sixty (60) grandchildren, Eighty-four, (84) great-grandchildren, Fifty-one (51) great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.
