The funeral services for the late Mrs. Geraldine Rushing-Rogers, who departed this life on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. from the First African Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia. Reverend Terrell Carter will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia. Geraldine Rushing-Rogers was born on October 13, 1947 in Sylvester, Georgia to the Mr. and Mrs. Willie D. and Annie Lue Teal-Rushing. Geraldine attended schools in the Worth County Public School System and graduated from J. W. Holley High School in 1966. Geraldine furthered her education by attending “The Unsinkable” Albany State (College) University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1970. After graduating from Albany State, Geraldine moved to Florida and taught school there for a while before returning home to Georgia to work at Napa.
At an early age, Geraldine accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Gordy, GA under the leadership of the late Reverend Eddie Hamilton, Sr.
Geraldine was united in Holy Matrimony to Lewis Lawrence Rogers. This union was blessed with one child, Nicholas Gerard Rogers.
Geraldine was very happy and devoted to her family. She enjoyed every moment that she spent with them. She would always go out of her way to help others.
Early Tuesday morning, October 14, 2025, surrounded by her family, God called Geraldine home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie D. and Annie Lue Teal-Rushing, her husband, Lewis Rogers, her son, Nicholas Rogers, a sister, Vanessa Rushing-Dover, her brothers, Ameca Rushing, R. D. Rushing, and Earnest Rushing, Sr.
Geraldine’s memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of her beloved grandchildren, Cameron Rogers, Daniel Rogers, Nicole Rogers; her daughter-in-law, Maya Simmons-Rogers, who brought her so much joy!; her siblings, Flora Rushing-Lester, Brenda Rushing, Roy Rushing, all of Sylvester, GA, Raymond (Joyce)Rushing of New York; brother-in-law, Leon Dover of New York; sisters-in-law, Lottie Powell, Laurastene Rogers, Gwendolyn (Al) Richardson, Marilyn Napier; brothers-in-law, Lewis (Annie Jean) Greene, Joseph (Kimberly) Morgan, James Edward (Patricia) Shipp, Larry Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special close cousins that were raised with her and countless friends who were blessed to have known and loved her.
Geraldine’s spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who carry her memories.
