Obituary For Janet Mechele Graddic

The funeral services for the late Ms. Janet Mechele Graddic, who departed this life on Thursday, June 25, 2026, will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from the Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Reverend Dr. Marvin Brown will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia.

Janet Mechele Graddic was born February 1, 1974 to the Mr. Jerome David Graddic, Sr. and Mrs. Lillie Mae Laster Walker Graddic. Hidden in her mother’s womb until the 8th month, Janet was the youngest of a set of fraternal twins.

Janet was born and raised in Ashburn, Georgia. She was a member at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Booker T. Rose and later Reverend Dr. Marvin Brown. Janet graduated from Turner County High School in 1992. She furthered her education at South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia for two years and moved to Florida for a new beginning and better opportunities.

As a go-getter and with a passionate heart for customer service, Janet began her career at Kenny Rogers Roasters in Tampa, FL where she quickly became a manager. After becoming a mother of her first-born and marrying Roger Allen Pace, she began her 30-year career in retail as a cashier at Winn-Dixie, then Walmart, and lastly Publix Supermarkets, Inc. Although she’s been offered management positions many times over the years, she rejected the offers to be what she liked to call it, a “hands-on” mom. She also worked in Lake County Schools as custodian and teacher assistant. In all of her work, she showed up for her team and executed her tasks with excellence and professionalism.

Moving from place to place, Janet made her final residence in Clermont, FL in 2005 and her final church home at Family Christian Center in Clermont, FL, led by Founding Pastors Rick and Rebecca Van Wagner. There with Roger A. Pace, she raised her three children Aren, Ariel, and Amiah Pace and later divorced in 2019. Throughout her life, she continued to love and support her children, serve her customers and community with love and integrity, and follow Jesus with sincere and bold faith.

In March of 2026, Janet was diagnosed with stage 4 Kidney cancer and remained confident in the faith and fought the good fight until the end. On Thursday, June 25, 2026, Janet Mechele Graddic transitioned from labor to rest. Preceding her in death were her parents Mr. Jerome David Graddic Sr. and Mrs. Lillie Mae Laster Walker Graddic, and her brother Cedric Laster.

To cherish her memories are her children Aren Pace, Ariel Pace, and Amiah Pace of Clermont FL; her siblings Gwendolyn Mathis (Everette), Patricia Walker-Pace, Gwendolyn Diane Rush (James), Erica Graddic, Monica Walker, all of Ashburn, GA, Juliet Graddic and Jerome David Graddic Jr., both of Tampa, FL; her uncle James Everette Laster of Ashburn GA; her aunt Lalor Mae Laster of Hempstead, NY; and friends, customers, coworkers, and church members to remember her well.

In reflection of her life, the ups and downs, her final words she wanted to share with us are, “God is good all the time and all the time God is good. He has always been Jehovah Jireh to me, my provider.”
