Obituary For Jerry Lee Williams

The funeral services for the late Mr. Jerry Lee Williams, who departed this this life on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Reverend Samuel Gaines, Pastor will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia. Mr. Jerry Lee Williams, also known as “Buddy”, was one of six children born to the late Willie Williams and Addie Lee Wooten in Alapaha, Georgia. He was lovingly raised by his mother and stepfather, Mr. Guss Wooten. At an early age, Jerry gave his life to Christ and joined Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Alapaha, Georgia, where he remained a faithful member throughout his life. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968 and from 1969 to 1984 and later worked at Ewing Buick Pontiac-GMC Truck, Inc. and Golden Peanut Company in Ashburn, Georgia, until his retirement. Jerry was a many of many passions. He enjoyed cutting grass, building model airplanes and rockets, and reading books. He was known for his dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family.

Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Louise Williams, in which they shared 54 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised two sons, Sean O. Williams (Kathy Hille) of Rebecca, GA and Dr. Jan Michael Williams (Topeka) of Byram, MS; and grandchildren, Chamique, Kalesia, Jan Michael, Jr. and Mykal-Michele Williams. Jerry's love for his grandchildren was evident, and he took great joy in watching them grow and thrive.

In addition to his wife and children, Jerry leaves to cherish his memory three devoted siblings, Brenda Joyce (Willie) Lott of Willachoochee, Georgia; Farley Ned Wooten of Alapaha, Georgia, and Arthur Lee Wooten (Deborah) of Nashville, Georgia. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Addie Lee Wooten; father, Mr. Willie Williams; his sister, Willie Williams; and his brother, Lee T. Williams. His legacy of love, service, and strength will live on through his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

MILITARY AWARDS AND DECORATIONS: Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal. These honors reflect his distinguished service in the United States Army, including active duty during the Vietnam War. The Bronze Star Medal is especially notable, as it is awarded for heroic or meritorious achievement in a combat zone.
