"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7
The oldest of six children, John Henry Jackson was born in Sylvester, Georgia, on July 7, 1961, to Fannie Mae Jackson and Edward J. Dollison.
John was educated in the Worth County School System, and graduated from Worth County High School in 1980. During his school years, he was a proud Ram, excelling in both basketball and football, where he earned the nickname “Swamp” for his playing style, defensive pressure, and physical dominance.
For over the past 35 years, John resided in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he worked as a truck driver and forklift operator. When he wasn’t behind the wheel, he could almost always be found decked out in red and black. His true passion was cheering on his beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs. Whether they were playing between the hedges or on the road, he never missed a chance to bark for the Dawgs.
John Henry Jackson passed away on Friday May 15, 2026 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Mae Green Williams, and his brother, Earl Green, Jr.
John is survived by his wife, Nelcy Jackson of Fayetteville, NC; his daughter, Jazmine Jackson of Fayetteville, NC; his sisters, Jacquelin (Tony) Hall, Jennett Fulton, both of Sylvester, GA; his brothers, Anthony Green of Milledgeville, GA, Michael (Christie) Green of Sylvester, GA; his aunts, Alice Ruth (Demar, Sr.) Milton, Dorothy (Greg) Shipp, both of Sylvester, GA; his special mom, “Ma” Ida Henry of Sylvester, GA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
