Obituary For Lee Valis Rockwell Outlaw
The funeral services for the late Ms. Lee Valis Rockwell Outlaw, who departed this life on Saturday, November 9,2024, will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the Blue Springs Baptist Church, 1619 Davis Mill Rd., Warwick, Georgia. Pastor Samuel Stokes, Sr. will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Memorial Garden, Georgia Hwy 300, Oakfield, Georgia. Ms. Lee Valis Rockwell Outlaw was born on October 25, 1951 in Warwick, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Lee Rockwell Sr. and Eula Mae Perry Rockwell.
From an early age, Lee accepted Christ into her life and became a devoted member of Blue Spring Baptist Church in Warwick, Georgia. She served faithfully on the usher board and as the church’s assistant secretary, giving her time and heart to her church community. Lee remained a dedicated and active member, attending regularly and serving with love until she finished her course.
Lee graduated from the Worth County Public School System in 1968, a proud member of the first class to integrate Worth County High School. Her courage and commitment paved the way for future generations, marking her as a true trailblazer. Lee went on to further her education at Albany State where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education and Georgia State where she earned her master’s degree. Her dedication to learning and her unwavering belief in the power of education would later shape her distinguished career and lifelong service to her community.
Lee was a trailblazer and devoted educator, serving as the first Black kindergarten teacher for the Worth County School System. With compassion, dedication, and a pioneering spirit, she impacted the lives of countless children for over 35 years, inspiring young minds and nurturing hearts. Lee’s legacy lives on in the generations she taught, the lives she changed, and the path she paved for future educators. Her impact on her students, colleagues, and community remains profound and enduring.
Lee was a dedicated member of the Women of Distinction Social Club and the Delta Mu chapter of the Gamma Phi Delta Sorority. She served with compassion on the Board of the Worth County Department of Children and Family Services. Lee found great joy in traveling and cherished every moment spent with her family, who meant the world to her.
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, our beloved transitioned from this life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Eula; siblings, Carolyn Rockwell, Marvin Rockwell, and Robert Rockwell, Sr.
Her journey will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted children, Thomas E. Outlaw, III (Jessica) and Joshua L. Outlaw, Sr. (Shakira) of Albany, Georgia; Four special grandchildren, Victoria Outlaw, Savannah Outlaw, Amy Outlaw, and Joshual L. Outlaw, Jr. “Jay” of Albany Georgia; Five siblings, Vera Rockwell of Sylvester, Georgia, Tommy Rockwell, Jr. (Mary) of Tifton, Georgia, Larry Rockwell (Diara) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, LaCynthia Rockwell and Debra Rockwell of Sylvester, Georgia; Sister-in-law, Joanne Rockwell of Ashburn, Georgia; A dear friend, Oscar Young of Hampton, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

I know because she spoiled my daughter Nikie. She was kind and free hearted and soared into my life when I became a teacher. She was the best and that smile of hers was contagious. My Gigi was a very nice lady she loved making people happy. When she walks in a room it became so bright because she always hated the silence so she would try to make everyone laugh. I chose a green candle because she loved Christmas and I know she will be here with us in spirit to celebrate Christmas.I love my Gigi so much and I know she is in a better place.
